UGH....Father's Day

Have you asked him what he wants? Maybe it's just a day to do nothing or something he would enjoy instead of an actual gift?

I got my DH Weather Tech floor liners for his car from our youngest DD. The older two DD's are taking him the the Cubs vs Cardinal game at Wrigley tomorrow. He has no clue so it will be fun to see his reaction to the ticket.

For Mothers Day this year we went for brunch but the kids didn't get me gifts bc there was nothing I really wanted or needed. DH also requested no gifts and is having a quiet day at home. He did request a nice seafood dinner tonight so I got some fish and shrimp to cook.

it hit my dh really hard when he recently made a phone call, was put into a queue-and heard one of his favorite classic punk rock songs transformed into an 'easy listening/no lyrics' phone hold music loop:guilty::sad:

to bring him some peace we are gifting him with a selection of dvds that have some great old performances.

dh doesn't have many hobbies these days-but I know he enjoys listening to/watching the bands he grew up with.

Too late now but my DH has always said that just having a family day is all he needs. When DS was small he'd make a gift and we'd go mini golfing or something like that as a family. We always tried to do the same for Mothers Day. It isn't about gifts for us, it's about being with family.

For my husband to get a gift for me for Mother's day is easy (flowers for the yard, books, art supplies, clothes, pedicure, jewlery etc...).

What can I get for my husband? He doesn't have a hobby, hates to read, he is lazy when he is home, doesn't play sports, doesn't drink coffee or alcohol, grills maybe 1-3 times in the summer, gets a fishing license just to assist the kids when they fish in a pond. He's diabetic so sugar is out.

We have gotten him dad shirts, hats, coupon books, kids pictures in a frame, massage before. I'm at a loss as what to get him! We have 4 kids and feel we should acknowledge him. Lately he likes his food dehydrator for making jerky. I thought about just spending the day with him outdoors but he works third shift and needs to sleep all afternoon.

Maybe a massage gift certificate...maybe a fitbit (although I'm not sure if he would really use it much since he checks his phone for steps some days).

Anyone have idea's. This would be so much easier if he DID/USED things! He's the type that would say don't get me anything but then kinda be pouty if we didn't!

Okay ... totally curious. What'd you decide on!?!

We ask each other what we want on Mother's and Father's day. And we're both pretty honest, meaning some years we'd like a specific gift, and others, we just want to chill at home with the family. This year, I got my front porch painted and new pillows to go on the porch's wicker furniture. My DH got a a stash of Rwandan coffee from Costco (because he loves it, and because our local Costco doesn't always carry this kind of coffee)...and he got a few nights where he called the shots (what we had for dinner, what games we played after, what we watched on tv before bed).
