UGH! Disney is offering a cheap "Summer Pass" for SoCal AP's!

Wow! I feel really sorry for the OP!

Nobody hates AP holders. Everyone would rather come to the park when it is less crowded. Get a grip, people!!!!

It's DISNEYLAND, for crying out loud! Be happy!

Oh, I agree. I see the OP's point, for sure. Everyone wants to find the lowest crowd point for their own trip, for sure! My only point was that locals had really kept the park afloat, rather than being some blight on the general touring population as it seemed (to me) from some posts. Poor OP!! She did indeed make it clear she was talking about heavy times to visit, not maligning those who are APs.

You go, Mugglemama! And may you have a 10 minute line for Space Mountain in your future :woohoo:

But not everybody in SoCal takes advantage of it either. The marketing promotions nonetheless need to be limited in scope. Baja California is in short driving distance; and given the lower average income, it is more likely to entice those who stay longer to come, as opposed to somebody from NorCal.

It is simple marketing, supply and demand.

Monthly payments are a liability. Disney needs to take into account the inevitable fact that there will customers that fail to meet their contractual obligations. Disney needs to limit the scope of this so the problem does not get out of hand, and it is more likely that those not within a reasonable driving distance will not meet their obligations. Furthermore, there are jurisdictional issues that make it difficult to go after customers not residing in local court districts.

Of course not everyone in So Cal takes advantage, you're skewing my words to serve your point. Someone earlier in the thread (earlier then your post I quoted I do believe) stated that there are more CA residents then FL residents, that was their reasoning as to why Disney doesn't offer these types of "deals" to those of us in the northern half of the state, because it would just cause too many CA residents using "deals" and flooding the parks.
And I can tell you that not many people "stayed longer" then we did last year....LOL 19 trips last year???? Those were varied of course, a few of times we drove down on Friday night and left Sunday afternoon but we did 4 bday trips and a longer trip over Tgiving, all of our bday trips were at least 5 days long and a couple were 7. I can say with all sincerity that we spent more last year at DLR then someone from Baja would have. I've been to Baja, we have friends who live there, I'm pretty confident when I say that. :)

I understand the marketing, I understand the "issues" they may have if someone decides not to pay for their AP, I also understand that they do have legal grounds if someone doesn't keep up with their obligations and contractual agreements. DBF's Mom is a lawyer, we actually discussed this with her. LOL Besides, what's a "reasonable distance"? I can fly to OC airport in about an hour, how is that not a reasonable distance? I can drive there in 6-6.5 hours, for our family that's not unreasonable so why is it for DL? In reality the marketing decision they made cost them 4 PAP holders for this year, for next year and probably until 2013 or even later. Maybe in the scope of things that doesn't matter to them but how we are treated does matter to me.

Edited to say that due to the OP's edited first post, i will not be replying any more on this thread. I'm sorry OP, I did not see that before I replied to MAH. :)

Thanks for this.

When I saw more posts on this thread this morning I thought "Oh, brother! Now what?" LOL, so it was nice to see a couple of kind remarks. :)

WOOHOO! I'll take a 10 minute Space Mountain line ANYDAY!! LOL!

Thanks for throwing a little support my way. :goodvibes

i don't hate the AP's ..heck i am one! i just don't get why we get soo much critizsm for having one...or even being a local. It's like those that complain have nothing better to do with there time!! ;)

Well, that criticism wasn't coming from me. I am a local (at least I was for the first 30 years of my life until we moved away a few years ago...), and I had a SoCal AP at one time. Which, I mentioned.

And, I really think that the ones who complain about encountering HUGE SoCal AP crowds definitely have better things to do with their time....LOL, that's WHY they're trying to find times to visit DL when it isn't going to be crazy-crowded.....because they have better things to do with their time.

Disney isn't "treating" you like anything. It isn't personal. They had to make a business decision based on, I'm sure, many more factors than us humble Diser's can come up with. It's why those people make the big bucks. And if you understand all the very valid points as to why they can't make an offer to all of California, I guess I don't understand the gripe.

But hey, if I'm to understand your point, why stop at Northern California? Why not Nevada? Las Vegas is just a hop, skip and a jump. Or how about Arizona? I can get to Sedona from my home in LA sooner than I can drive to my mother's in the Sierra Nevada's.

You're griping to the wrong audience is all. I do feel for ya.
