Ugh, Cancelling again!!

I am going to cancel/reschedule our Disney FREE DINING trip again.... We have been waiting for 2 years to take this trip....and not gonna happen in March/April of this year. I have some options I can consider and now sure of the best route? I can move my reservation for August <hopefully the usual week of free dining> and not lose my deposit. My travel agent said i can continue to move around the dates as long as i dont let my 45 days pass so I can retain the money I have put down. So, august may be good and we can contiue to wait for the best deals to come available. With that said....one of the reasons i am not going to just cancel is much of the deposit was on 2 chase disney rewards gift cards that have expired and the rest were on Chase debit cards that I no longer really use since the rewards are not offered. So trying to get the deposit back on everything seems like a nightmare and we are ok with letting it sit on another reservation for now. I have thought about...and i may be saying it wrong..its been a long time since i have looked into it?...renting on disney property? Is this a great money saving option? what about my deposit if i do this? that would mean i would need to go ahead and request a refund and I guess contact Chase re: the amount on the gift cards? <one of which i cant fine anymore > any and all advise/suggestions are welcome!

Ouch!! Sorry for your predicament, and I've never tried to get money back from a GC after it's spent so don't know what your options would be. Probably better to try to use it on a future trip like you first stated. Maybe someone has been successful at doing this, but seems tricky to me Good Luck

How much is the deposit? Is it enough to cover the price of the tickets? If so, can you apply the deposit to just the tickets?

Renting disney property? Do you mean DVC? I have rented once before and am renting again for a trip to WDW in a few months (three different resorts, three different owners).
