Ugh!!!!!!! AG dolls!

I was having trouble with the website so I called and got through within about 10 minutes. They were not sold out of anything I wanted. I tried the website after I called and it seemed to be working again.

We have a My Twinn as well, looks just like DD down to the freckles on the side of her neck. They can wear baby shoe size 1 or 2, we got all of her shoes and boots that way. My Twinn has a great sale after Christmas too.

I'm 21 now, but I got my first AG doll for my 9th birthday. I wanted Addy because I loved her story. My mom and I would read her books together at night before I went to bed, and her story was my favorite out of the 5 original girls.

I can sympathize with the frustration your daughter must have that there is not a doll that looks like her (I saved up my allowance and holiday money for my second AG doll because I wanted one with dark brown hair and brown eyes that looked like me), but maybe, like a previous poster suggested, you could have her pick one of the girls whose stories and adventures she likes the best. That's how I picked me first AG doll, and I still have her almost 12 1/2 years later. :)

Instead of trying for one of the ones to look like her why not try another direction and pick one of the historical/classic ones. Let her pick which girls adventures she would like to read about. That is what my DD did!

While I would love to do that she has her heart set on the one that looks just like her. She is asking Santa for it and she knows the elves will make it for her.:rolleyes1

Sorry! It was worth a try? How far off is it? Maybe get as close as possible and then blame it on an old elf with poor eyesight? or how busy they are and just goofed up? Or no one was picking this particular doll and she felt lonely and sad and they just knew your DD would love her 'cause she is just a wonderful loving little girl and it would be a favor to Santa?

and they fit into newborn sized clothing. It's never been a problem for us that other girls have AG dolls.. the Twinn always gets much more attention.

Well, the closest I might be able to get is a doll with freckles. Now my dd is Lily White without a freckle in sight. I know it is a small detail but to spend over a $100 on a doll and it is not quite right is annoying. That is a good idea with the elf though. Hmmmm.....I always tell my kids that their beauty marks are little kisses from the Angels. Maybe I can tell her that it looks like the angels were sending her some love.:cutie:

What does your DD look like (eye, hair, complexion)? I ask because you might be able to have a doll shop customize the face and hair. I'm on a similar site to DIS for AG doll forum, and there are some avid doll collectors who do that sort of thing with special paints, and I know they do hair cuts (can even make over girl dolls with bad hair into boy dolls!!).

Ah... well of course, the elves can do it. I'm dealing with a similar little challenge here that I'm told the elves will work out...:guilty:

What you need is to join one of the AG sites and ask there. I know quite a few ladies will customize dolls but am not sure how much time they'd require at this time of year. The sites each have sale boards too though so perhaps there might be something there that'll work and you can just buy it.

If not, the quickest/easiest thing to do IMO would be to find a doll with the coloring/eyes you want and then purchase a seperate wig for the exact look you're wanting. They can change eyes too, but I just think wigs are easier to tackle - you could even order a wig and change it yourself if you do a little research but often the collectors will do it free, or at little cost, in exchange for the wig they take off. There'd be time but it's getting really close for anything customized so if this sounds like an option don't delay.

You have to register/apply for membership but I find very friendly folks on both of these sites:

Last year at the Benefit sale, I bought my dd one that looked like her with dark brown hair (long with bangs), light skin and blue eyes. I'm so glad I did! Now they don't sell that one anymore. I noticed they don't have a ton of dolls with dark brown hair and blue eyes. That doesn't seem like an odd combination to me?
