My mom and Stepdad are joining us in June... all of our trips were confirmed and paid for...

Well my step dad is about to loose his job and they may not be able to come after all..

All my ADRs are for 6... *if* we decide to take the trip without them (We haven't decided if we will or not... DH says we are... I say I want my babysitters... :( ) It is going to totally screw up my ADRs huh? Will they seat 4 instead of 6? I might just be out of luck on my Fantasmic Package and HHDR since I have to cancel those because of the CC and I may not just be able to reduce right? UGH!!!

I am so upset... and selfish more about my trip that his job... :(

You will be fine. Keep your ADRS. If you want you can call and let them know and see if you can keep the same times you have..but if it's going to be a pain and you have to change the times then don't switch them.

You do need to cancel/change the ones that have the credit card guarantee because you will be billed for the two that don't show up. For the other ones you can try just showing up with four people but personally I would call and inform them at you now only have four incase someone else can make use of the other two spaces.

Except the CC guaranteed ones right? (F!... HHDR...) Those I will have to cancel right?

But on others you don't think we will get turned away showing up with 4 instead of 6?

Nevermind.. someone else posted while I was...

I spent 3 hours on hold making those ressies and now I will probably loose most of them... F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!

I do not think you will get turned away. I have read on the boards about others who show up with a smaller number. People get sick, sometimes someone is tired to go,-I'm sure it will be alright. On our last trip my mom almost didn't come to Boma's b/c she was having a lot of foot pain. Things happen.

I'd guess that it might be a little risky to just show up a couple people short.

When making ADRs a couple of days ago, I was told by the CM that there were four tables open for parties of four, but since we were only two people, he couldn't give me the reservation.

You'd hope that the CMs at the restaurants would be understanding and just seat your abbreviated party, but depending how tight things are and how cranky they might be.... you might run into trouble?

Just speculation. It's tough, because, yeah, as you say, if you call and reduce your number, they may tell you that there aren't any smaller tables available.

You will be ok showing up with four. In the pat we have had people back out last minute for an adr because they were sick or tired. The restaurant never gave us a hard time.

We are on DxDDP and I have about 15 ADRs... some at pretty popular restuarants so I am afraid of pressing my luck that many times over the course of 8 days and also afraid of not getting the ADRS/times I want if I have to start over..

We are iffy about taking the trip without them anyway... this might just seal the deal... :worried:

I don't know if this is even an option, not sure how set you are on what you have planned---but since you really want your "babysitters" to go with you, why not skip the DxDDP in lieu of the regular DDP and bring them along with you?

Their airfare is probably paid for so that's no added expense, you can see if they can swing paying for their food and souveniers while they are there and maybe you can go ahead and swing the room/ticket portion of the trip. Unless you got a great deal on the upgraded dining plan, it seems that the amount you would save by doing the regular DDP you could probably pay for the room/ticket portion of their trip with.

Yes, I can understand wanting to do the DxDDP and eat at lots of great places, but remember---there are still great places to eat on the regular DDP and you would also get to have some nights where you could leave the kids at the hotel and go out and enjoy yourself.

If it were me and I had to pick between no WDW at all or a slightly less luxurious version of WDW with lots of adult-time away from the kids...I think I would pick the latter of the two options, IMO. :thumbsup2

Good luck!

This has been our experience as well. Last trip we had my sister sick with a Kidney Infection, and she missed LeCellier and a few others. We had no issue at all showing up with less.

My husband had food posioning and didn't make it to one reservation and again, we had no issue.

However, you will need to modify those that have a cc hold, otherwise you'll be charged.

I would love to bring them! But the issue is not really money I don't think since their trip is already paid for as well... It is more if he has to get a new job then he mostly likely won't have enough vacation days (not to mention it would be a brand new job) to take a week off in 2 months...

Gotcha! Even though the trip is paid in full, if I'm not mistaken, usually you can get your money back (with the exception of a certain amount) so I just figured that's what they would be doing to save money.

I wouldn't cancel anything yet...like you said, trips are both paid already, so if your stepfather doesn't get a job before then or if they are very nice and willing to let him take it---you could always go! Weirder things have happened.

When DH got out of the military we had a vacation planned while he was job hunting. He found something sooner than expected and he told them he had the trip planned and would need the vacation time, they agreed to give it to him (albeit the portion he didn't have enough days for were unpaid) but it seems like it would beat losing out on money already paid for the trip!

Good luck and hopefully you still get to go. If you decide to go without them, don't forget about Fairy Godmothers, you can always get one to come watch the kids while you go out for some adult fun. :goodvibes

Yes, you can show up with fewer people than on the reservation, BUT I feel it is courteous to cl and make the change in the ADR, reason being table for 6 are sometimes difficult to get and people would be turned away. "no shows' are kind of a buggaboo of mine. I always try to cl to chg/cancel whatever. I guess I have waited so much I hope to allow someone else NOT to wait

In the past we have actually showed up with one more than we had adrs for and we just went up to the podium and said moore party of 5 and they said in a very nice voice okay take the pager and we will call you as soon as your table becomes available. Remember this is Disney and 99.9% of the employees are still very very friendly. So I think just don't call about changing from 6 to 4 but definitly call about the ones you need CC for.

Maybe I don't understand how Disney ADRs work, but this baffles me. I suppose I can understand them wanting to keep larger tables open for parties that will fill them, but on the other hand it's sort of rude (IMO) to turn away a smaller party when there are tables available.

I was going to tell OP to change her ADR's to a party of 4 as a courtesy, but not if Disney is so crazy about filling all seats that she might lose her ressie.

Please be courteous and call Disney Dining to tell them about your changes. Somewhere out there is a couple trying to get a reservation at the restaurants you are booked into. There should be no problem changing from 6 to 4.
I have done this in the past with no issues. CM's were very appreciative that I called to cancel 2 of our 6 seats.
If we all fail to change/cancel reservations that we have then eventually Disney will ask for CC's for every reservation we make. Just my 2 cents...

WAIT! Do nothing yet, let things settle down a tad at home and see where everything falls. You have time :)

If your DSD gets a job prior to the trip, as a PP said, make it part of the package. Life happens, employers know this. As part of hte acceptance (and don't volunteer it until the offer is made) indicate we have a vacatiomn planned for xx date. Most employers will accept this as part of the hiring

This is probably wrong....:rolleyes1 but can mom come without him?? In case he lands a position and can't, can just she come along?

If the 4 of you decide to go, i would attempt to cancel and reschedule the CC guaranteed adrs.

For the others, i would attempt to rebook as a party of 4 and if you can't keep them!!!!! The table for 6 is often a table for 4 and a table for 2. But in the Disney system :sad2: they have no flexibility.

If you are a party of 2 and nothing available, check for a party of 3 or 4. often there is availability:thumbsup2 and same in reverse. If they can't downsize you, keep the ressie :thumbsup2

I hope it all works out for you :)

I agree with this post 100%. Yes, you waited on hold to MAKE your ressies, but many many have also waited and been turned down. I think it is wrong to expect the CM's to accommodate whatever size party you show up with regardless of the ressie made. I feel you OWE it to Disney to be as accurte and you can humanly be other wise we will all be putting down our crdit cds with every ADR. I was a Coral Seas in February, and they had ADR'sfor 3 families at same time who never showed or called. Personally I think it is rude and selfish.

First - In my experience (we were booked as a party of 5 for an entire 15 day trip and the other couple's mom died and they had to go home after the first day) they will seat you with less at any restaurant - even those with a credit card guarentee (you will have to pay the no show fee for those not in attendence).

Second - I completely disagree with those who say that it is rude to keep your ADRs. Yes - try and call and change to 4 people - ONLY after you are SURE you will be four. If four is not available then DO NOT cancel. It is not rude to keep ADRs that you made in all good faith. It is not your fault that your plan may have to change. It is punishment enough that your family can't come with you - don't punish yourself more by changing your ADRs as well. You did your part - you made only one ADR at a time for the amount of people you expected. It is unreasonable for anyone to expect more of you

everyone is entitled to their opinions :)

BUT - you do need to be nice and respectful to those with a differing opinion

Thank you :)
