I was shocked when I heard that people in LA wear Uggs. Don't you think tennis shoes will suffice in this shoulder season?

Also Ugg is short for uggly. ;)

And actually, they really aren't that "ugly". I wear mine under my jeans so really, all you see are the toes. I don't wear them with shorts or skirts....they aren't ugly....how you wear them are ugly.

I've been here for almost a week and have been surprised at how many people I've seen wearing Uggs. My daughter and I were talking about it today.

I'm from Oregon and I wear Uggs most of the winter. But here, I've been wearing flip flops or tennis shoes (when rainy) and have been just fine.

Yes Shimmer....that's because it's a fashion statement, rather than out of necessity. Ridiculous? Yes, the fashion statement is....coming from where I do.....they can be a necessity! :) Doesn't mean I'm taking them to Disney. :rotfl2:

As a native Californian, I can usually be found wearing sandals, rain or shine. I normally wear tennis shoes to the park, but have been known to wear heels on occasion (not for an all day trip, however!)

If you're comfortable in your Uggs, wear them. I know my feet tend to get too hot in them, so tennis shoes work just fine for me. Last I looked, the weather forecast wasn't predicting rain until, of course, Friday night :sad2:, so you should be fine with whatever you choose.

Since your from a colder state then you probably won't be that cold at DLR, since it really isn't very cold in So Cal yet, but to the locals it's a bit chilly! Californias aren't used to very cold temps, so when it gets just a little cold we think it's freezing!
Bring them in case! You can always rent a locker and change shoes later in the day!
And I agree, Uggs are super comfy! I got a pair almost 4 years ago and they are still in great condition! I wear them every winter :)

I second the sandals, I'm usually never in anything else :thumbsup2

If you're worried about looking out of place in Uggs, don't be. TONS of people here wear them, especially with the rain lately. A few years ago the trend was to wear them with miniskirts or shorts :confused3 SO GLAD that's pretty much over now.

We were there 10/15-10/19 when it was overcast and a bit rainy. I traded off between my Keens and my tennis shoes. Dh wore lightweight hiking shoes the whole time. DS wore Crocs, Keens and tennis shoes.

:lmao: Some of them can be, but you should check their website, they have certainly improve some of their boots' look.

Btw,I live in AZ and when the temperatures hit 60 degrees in here we wear anything from down vests to uggs. It's quite funny I must say....

People have been wearing UGGs in the beach areas of California for much longer that most realize. They were originally worn by surfers to warm up their feet after getting out of the water. So they were a functional shoe here too before they were worn for fashion. I think I got my first pair of UGGs over 12 years ago (I think they are older than my DD) and I don't even surf. :)

But I have never worn a pair of UGGs to the parks. I think they would be too hot for that kind of walking. Plus, they would get really dirty. I just use regular tennis shoes.

uggs are my absolute favorite!!! a big part why i love the winter, cuz its the only time in california i can wear them:) i have three pair, black, brown, and dark tan, for every occasion ahahaaha. during winter im probably wearing uggs 4 out of the seven days of the week
