Ugghhh, so disappointed about the weather!

Does rain really ruin a DL trip, or is it in the mind?

I went to DL 70 times in the 90's. I often tried to be there in the rain. I could never do it.

Maybe it's all about ones mindset. Or maybe rain does ruin it. I wouldn't know. lol.

I think it depends on how you travel and what your expectations are. Rain at WDW would not bother me much. We go all the time, not a big deal. Rain at DL closes down more rides and we have only ever been 3x now, the last in which it rained! I go to DL for the beauty and the history, not the rides. WDW is more for the rides (for DS7).

For a party where I have spent big bucks, rain ruins it either place in my mind.

For me rain, no matter what, is a downer. I mean generally speaking, not just in DL.. just by the looks of it I get sad already.. dark... gloomy... wet... muddy... boring... your limited to what u can do.. etc. I think it started when I was a kid.. everytime it rains we arent allowed to go out and play. Made me so sad as a kid like my world is ending hahah... I think that kind of got stuck in my head LOL . Plus who wouldnt get ticked off when you paid extra $ to see HS, special parade and then they get cancelled? I would!! .. and i dont like wet shoes...

We will be there next week... I see theres 60% rain on saturday:scared1: siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

Oh and just wanna add this up. DH is my complete opposite. He LOVES rain. Said it makes him calm.

I remember one Christmas trip where it rained. We were able to keep riding Space Mountain over and over. Get off, go get back in line. Of course this was back in the 80's and while you needed tickets. We had unlimited passes and enjoyed the lack of people.

Does anyone know if WoC was/is canceled in rainy weather?
WOC was NOT cancelled this past week during the torrential rain.

The WOC CMs told us that they will only cancel WOC if there is active lightning.

We have had numerous days of rain at WDW but have never done a rainy day at DLR. As I see it here are some of the differences:

1. Nature of the rain - at WDW rain is often during a warmer day and of shorter duration - with the sun coming out after. At DLR a rainy day often lasts all day - and it is colder and gray all day.

2. Queues - DLR has less space and less rain so many of the queues are outdoors and exposed. WDW has more queues covered and/or indoors - especially Epcot Future World which has essentially everything inside a building.

3. Locals vs. vacationers - DLR has many more locals on day trips (70%). They can can check the weather and cancel or postpone trips based on rain. We did this ourselves numerous times when we lived in SoCal. At WDW most are vacationers from out of town (85%) so they are stuck at the resort with dining reservations at the parks etc. So they are much more likely to push on through the rain. Therefore expect to see lighter crowds at DLR during the rain as compared to WDW.

Still wanting word on those poncho's with ears. We were there and asked at every shop and no CM's had ever heard or seen them. Are they sold offsite? They sound like a really cute idea.
