Uggh! 11/10 - 11/17 Christmas Deorations were already up all over the world!

I have to agree with the OP on this one as well. I absolutley love Christmas time and I enjoy all sorts of decorations, but why does Disney and everywhere else have to PUSH it on you. Why can't we enjoy each holiday? Thanksgiving is another one of my favorite because it reminds me of being with family and being thankful we have a home and jobs and are healthy.

Instead when I go into the store all I hear is Christmas music and then I get hives thinking "Oh My Goodness I have to start shopping!!!!" It should be about that.

I would love to visit Disney for Christmas but I would rather go after Thanksgiving, not before that because it does take away from what you are going there for.

Oh yes, they replaced my wonderful wishes with a holiday version! It was very nice but not the emotion evoking original show.

This is EXACTLY how I felt when I showed up to see Wishes on September 28 and was faced with Hallo-wishes instead! It wasn't even October yet! (Like you said, it was still a good show, but it WASN'T Wishes . . .)

Other than that, I have to agree that I think stores, etc. decorate far too early for Christmas (I'm an after-Thanksgiving kind of person, myself), but it is good to know that if I ever want to see the Christmas decorations at Disney I can go in November, instead of battling Pop Warner or confining myself to the second or third weeks in December. (Although I think I might prefer the second or third week in December . . .)

Disney is just following the American way!! Everybody rushs every season at you early!
Did you ever try to buy a winter coat in ...say late November (winter does not start until December 21)? The stores are beginning to stock summer clothes by then. Also ever try to buy school supplies in say...September! They've been out for 2 months by then and all picked over. Back to school sales start a week after school ends! It is ridiculous and drives me crazy! Christmas decorations are in the stores by October 1st! Disney is nowhere near as bad! We were there Nov 10th to the 13th, and noticed decorations up, but they didn't start lighting and music until the 13th. It was kind of nice, since we've never been there at Christmas!

It seems to me there is a difference between early decorating due to necessity, and starting the "whole Christmas experience." It makes sense that it takes time to decorate, but the music is a whole other issue, and a large portion of the "Disney Experience." In that way they are pushing the season for no apparent reason.

We did Disney at Christmas years ago, and enjoyed it, but I wouldn't want "Disney Christmas" over just plain "Disney" every trip.

It is rude to just say if you don't like it, don't go. The OP didn't know that this would be the case. There isn't any reason to be rude, IMO.

We were there Oct 29-Nov 4. We went to the Halloween party on Oct 30. On Nov 1, we went to AK and all the Christmas decorations were up! I must say I didn't mind, since, now we have a nice Christmasy picture of my son to send with this years Christmas cards.

I agree with the OP. I'm okay with decorations starting to go up; it's a huge undertaking. Osborne lights were up when we were there in October and it didn't bother me at all, I understand the prep time. If they had been lighting up the street, that would have been too much.

It's the switchover to Christmas shows and Christmas music that would irritate me.

I think Christmas loses a lot of it's sentiment and meaning when it lasts for 2 whole months.

But... The day after Thanksgiving ALL Disney guest MAGICALLY expect the parks to be fully decorated.

Sorry, but there is NO way Disney can do what they do overnight. (Tinkerbell is not helping out here! LOL!)


SO you have two choices. One early decorations or two not near as many decorations.. (Then we get the thread entitled. "THEY CALL THIS DECORATING! where people complian that "last year there were more decorations")

And I wouldn't expect them to get all of the decorations out in one night. But the first time I took my son to WDW, was in Nov of 2001. We were there for 2 weeks (I thought this would be a once in a lifetime trip. ). The week before Thanksgiving and the week of Thanksgiving. Granted certain Christmas items were up but the majority of them went up Thanksgiving day and the day after. It made for a wonderful trip as we got to experience WDW without the Christmas decorations and with. And IMO it wasn't too early or too late.

Why does the amount of money you pay have to do with it?

People would complain if decorations weren't up for their trip and people complain if they are up for their trip You can't make everyone happy.

Why not just enjoy that you are at WDW?

OP was just making some legitimate comments and was over all not disappointed.

I think in defense of dazedandconfused, they chose to go after the Halloween decorations would be down and before Christmas so they could experience "just Disney". I would be a little put out if there were Christmas decorations up already - it comes soon enough! At least they had a great time anyway.

Osbourne Lights were being put up in August...that's pretty crazy IMO!

I know!!! In August we were in MGM and I said to DH, "Ewwwwwww!!! They are putting Christmas decorations up already!!!" I know it must take hundreds of CM's hundreds of hours to put up all those decorations . . . but AUGUST!!! I didn't like it!!

I love the Christmas music and decorations in Disney, but I like "regular" Disney much better!!

I know this responce might sound catty - but its really not intended to be. If the only way for Disney to have the Osborne lights at Christmas is to start putting them up in August, would you rather they start in August or not have them at all? Just curious.

I know my husband does a pretty elaborate Halloween display and he started the last weekend in September in order to have everything done and functioning (things "fly" and "pop up" etc) by Halloween. I'm sure the neighbors think its way too early for Halloween but I'd never suggest to Dh that he not start then because if he didn't it wouldn't be ready for Halloween. He loves it and the faces on the children are priceless. I wouldn't miss it for the world

That's the way my 24 year old thinks also. Me I love Christmas decorations and misic and listen to a local radio station which started playing All Cristmas music on November 1st.
I'm glad you got to view"YOUR WISHES" once before they started the Holiday Wishes.

I totally agree. We were there Nov 1-8 and when we walked into MK and saw the garland up on Main Street, I was disappointed that Disney, too, is starting Christmas so early. It used to be that after Thanksgiving was the start of the Christmas season. Now it's after halloween. I hate it!

It usually stops 13 days after Christmas. Thus the 12 days of Christmas are celebrated.

What do we all think the rest of the world outside the U.S. thinkgs about setting up x-mas decorations? Canada's Thanksgiving is in what, September? Other countries don't have Thanksgiving.

What is wrong with celebrating the Christmas season for more than 30 days? I love x-mas decorations. Especially outside one's. I put up our decorations outside this past weekend. Next year I may do it earlier.

What so I have to wait to eat my turkey dinner to set up my x-mas decorations? Fine I'll eat my turkey dinner for Halloween.

I told DW the other day, the problem with Christmas is Thanksgiving. For some reason over the years people have this notion that Thanksgiving is this far superior holiday. Now don't ge me wrong. I love Thanksgiving and getting together with family. But it is not x-mas. For x-mas my parents rent out a hall and we have 80+ family members and friends show up for a party. Then there are all the other small parties that we have at other friends houses and the work party. I know that some people don't like getting together with family and friends, but hey. Thats what I think of x-mas. Thanksgiving for us is usually getting together with just the immediate family and watching football and taking a nap on the chair cuz we ate to much turkey.

My sister in law told us she was talking with a co-worker in the London branch of her company and the woman in London made a comment about Thanksgiving being a bigger holiday than x-mas in the U.S. My SIL said that no it wasn't, we just get together for 1 day with some family members and eat turkey. There aren't even any presents and gift giving involved. The woman in London said,,, Oh, so whats the big deal then?

Thats my story and I'm stickin to it.

I agree with the OP. We were there from nov. 10-20 and were also disappointed to see Wishes ( my favorite thing!!) only once and not from a very good spot. When we went to see it the 2nd time it was Christmas wishes which was a good fireworks show but not as good as wishes!

Also not happy to have thee MGM and AK parades be Christmas ones! I like those parades as do my kids and we were not in a holiday mood in mid Nov.!!

We purposely went down closer to the castle to have our pic taken on Main St. so it wouldn't have all that garland in it!

I also thought I would be the only one who thought this way so i was affraid to post it. But I am glad to see I am not.
We did take a trip in Dec. one year and it was fine to have all the Christmas stuff and it felt "right" then of course!
