UGG - kitchen problem related to new sink

I realize - in the whole scheme of things...this is a really minor problem - and given a little bit of time (hopefully tomorrow) this will at least have a resolution in progress...

We have done a minor cabinet modification. (Carpenter did a great job!)

We got a great deal on a SS fridge (scratch and dent) woohoo

We ordered and had new quartz counters installed, along with an undermount sink.

All of the above had gone without a hitch...it looks great...Really Great!!!

So - the plumber (from the kitchen bath remodel store that we bought the faucet from, along with the airgap AND the strainers.) The faucet is nice - love how it works. I had picked out what I thought were very functional strainers. Nothing in the above work that we had done seemed outrageous. UNTIL we got to the plumbing.

We were not home when the plumber was here. (I stayed home yesterday when the counter guys were installing.)

HOW HARD COULD IT BE TO INSTALL THE CORRECT STRAINERS?????

I get it - the store has to order the correct ones - or make sure the plumber knows the "really expensive strainers" were for my job.

The strainers - are just junky. REALLY AWFUL. We had nasty strainers on our old sink...these ones are worse.

We did call the store when we got home, the owner was at a clients house. I can't talk to her until tomorrow. I hope this gets resolved quickly. I am just not a happy camper.

I looked at every single strainer type this store offers. I used each one they had in the store. I couldn't believe how expensive these suckers were. I picked out the easiest working one. AND...it happened to be the most expensive ones.

I'm sure they will fix this problem for you. Hang in there, it's almost over. Remodels really can try your patience, even when most things go right. Good luck!

Sorry you had a problem, hope they fix it for you!
On the other hand we also put in quartz counters and an undermount sink-we love it! Just look forward to enjoying your "new" kitchen!

Oh lord why did i open this thread. We are in the process of starting to redo sink and everything ,and plumbing issues are on of my concerns. We are also getting a new sink and i pray for the amount of money that is going into this project that everything goes as planned. We have hardley started on our project and it already going to drive me to drink

Yea but after it is done you keep going in and peaking. It will be totally worth it after it is done and i am sure it will look good.

OP here...so this is the update:

I've removed any blame for this on the plumber. He simply installed what was given to him.

Apparently - the particular strainers we ordered were backordered. So - plumber installed "what they gave him" and to be honest - he was doing what the store told him to do. He probably didn't even know this was a backorder.

Eventually, we will receive the correct item and have it installed. And the junky one "uninstalled."

The kitchen store is "irritated" with us because we are not wanting to pay the full amount of the balance. We are wanting to "hold back" the cost of the strainers as well as 1/2 the plumber fee. Once we pay this balance, our leverage to get the correct product is "zero".

I really would have felt better about this had they communicated with us that this item was on a backorder, and what the plan was to change it out upon the item coming in to stock. Which makes me wonder - did they really think we wouldn't have noticed the different strainers.
