In order to qualify for free dining (As done in the past. I know nothing has been released for 2015.), do you have to buy your park tickets from Disney or can you buy them from UCT and have them linked in MDE by the time FD is offered?

You have to buy a minimum 2-day base ticket for each person in your booked room for Free Dining. You don't have to use these tickets during your stay. You can use tickets from UCT (or other source), and opt to have the FD tickets transferred onto plastic ticket media then taken home for later use, or sold/gifted to someone else. The unused tickets are legally transferable and upgradable to 10 days max, and never expire if unused. They can also be used as a down payment towards an AP or AP renewal.
If you have two separate tickets on MDE for those in your group, be sure to visit Guest Relations outside a theme park entrance or at DTD. The CM there will set the priority of your tickets. If you opt to remove your FD tickets, the CM can handle that, too.
Free dining requires a full price room package, including a minimum 2 day ticket purchase with the package. Since they are giving the free dining, they want that income in return. They don't make as much on tickets through brokers.
