Ubering at Disney?

Has anyone Uber at Disney? From park to park or restaurants? What was your experience?

We used Uber and Lyft exclusively to get around when we were there in September. They are both very active in the area and it was super easy to get a car when we needed it. We didn't try and grab one right at park closing, you might run into issues with surge pricing then...but it was easy enough to bounce over to a resort for a quick drink or just pick up a car at a resort nearby instead of getting one at the park gates.

What's the average price of an Uber?
Obviously it'll vary depending upon the hotel and the park.

It really depends on where you're traveling from and to. We had a hotel out on International Drive (about 9 miles away from the parks) and it was between $13 and $15 each way both on uber and Lyft. one day we took a Lyft from a Walgreens to Disney Springs, for a 3 mile ride it was a little over $6.

Both the Lyft and Uber apps have ride estimate tools on them that can give you an idea of cost between destinations.

It is super easy to use and generally easy to get an Uber as long as you don't have little ones requiring car seats (unless you bring your own).

We used it quite a bit in June, and it was super easy. However, for us it added up quickly and before we knew it we had spent much more than we intended. We did a mix trip of offsite/onsite so while offsite we uber'd to dinner and it was $12-13 each way. Plus tip. But the convenience can't be beat :)

We used it to go to the airport, $15. 11:00 a.m.
We used to to switch resorts, $6.00 WDW-out past Sea World.
I rather give Uber than pay for my rental sitting in a parking lot.
We did use the rental going from park to resort-so much faster than busses. We will just have to plan better - time wise.

We did Uber from Yacht Club to Universal. It was great! It was $19.94 each way. The driver was at YC within 3 minutes of me booking that morning. We didn't wait more than 5 minutes at Universal to be picked up that night. I wouldn't do it all the time because it would add up and we are fine with Disney transport. I would definitely use it to go off property- or to get somewhere in a hurry- or to get somewhere off the bus/boat/monorail route like resort to resort.

We used Uber several times on our August trip (prices are as best as I can remember). It was actually nice and easy to use and never waited for more than 5 minutes to be picked up
Dis Sp (old bus loop mid day) to Pop 5.50
Dis Sp (west side late as night) to Pop 6.25
Studios to Epcot (am) 4.50
GF to Dis Sp 7.25

Was just there last week and used Uber 3 times. It's really the most affordable way to do things in my opinion. Just make sure you know where you are going or at least a rough idea of how to get there. I had one driver who claimed he had been through the Animal Kingdom gate 3 times already that day (where we were headed), and when his gps was giving him very incorrect directions he started asking ME where he should be going, so I had to pull up the directions on my phone... Our trips were between $6 - $10

Thanks for sharing prices, y'all.

My personal assessment: Uber looks reasonable (when compared against driving yourself, likely getting lost, and paying to park) when you're a group of four. We, however, are a group of six, and the price jumps up. We are all adults though, and we may break up at points ... this is a valuable option for us.

Tell me if I'm right about this: The best option for ubering from offsite to the Magic Kingdom would be to say you want to go to The Contemporary ... then ask the driver to drop you at the gate rather than the hotel itself ... and walk, right? Would this work in reverse? Ask for a pick-up at The Contemporary? If you're being picked up at a resort, how do you specify where? Resorts are big.

The GPS will put a dot where your location is, and that's where the driver will go. It's most helpful to be near the lobby, as that is where cars are able to go.

Yep - Contemporary is the best spot for dropoff to MK, you can request for your driver to just drop you right after the guard gate - but with the new stronger enforcement of the parking fees they might be stricter about dropoff/pickup locations. Most resorts only allow dropoff/pickup at the main lobby area, we never had an issue with having to direct the driver where to go.

super easy and no worries using uber. I know the parks were planning to put in uber pickup zones at each park to make it extra convenient as well.

We are locals, and we Uber all the time, from our house to WDW parks or Disney Springs, over to I-drive to meet friends and enjoy some adult beverages... Super simple... We use it when we travel in the US as well as Internationally... We love it...

Rental cars are pretty inexpensive in Orlando. Given that I have a little bit of a bean counter personality, I used the estimator to estimate all trips I would use uber and lyft on / what they would cost and compared that to rental car, gas, and parking charges. The rental car option was actually less expensive, but for me Uber/Lyft was still in budget and not too bad (real game changer compared to cabs), and I don't feel like driving for once (small party just two of us too), so this will be the first time for me to rely exclusively on uber/lyft. Do note that I am staying offsite near SeaWorld and looked at transportation to and from the airport and to SeaWorld, the Titanic attraction, Disney Springs, Pointe Orlando for a family dinner, and the MK (Contemporary) to and from our hotel (Marriott Residence Inn SeaWorld) on a quick three day/four night trip. For uber too, you can sometimes be charged surcharge pricing for busy times.

Uber/Lyft is a great option (don't get me wrong), but I just wanted to mention that even though I'm doing it when I did the math it was not the least expensive option for the trips I'll be doing. The convenience is tremendous, though, and I didn't want to waste precious vacation time on very short stay waiting for a bus either, but that's a good option in the I drive area too for things right in that vicinity in particular.

Met someone on our trip who said they used Uber. They were staying at the Contemporary and Uber had to drop them off through the gate. When the guard asked the Uber driver for his license, it was EXPIRED! He was allowed only to drop off the party and get off property immediately. Was told to not come back in property again. Dismayed that Uber obviously does not have “checks and balances” in place for something as basic as a proper unexpired driver license. Have a friend who has worked for Uber for years and he said that he does not remember getting finger printed or a criminal background check run on him. Certainly hope that security procedures of their drivers is in place, given the choice of $2 more going from Poly to Bay Lake for our split stay, we hopped in a cab at the Poly, still think it is a safer way to travel, have to believe credentialing is better checked with cabs.

We used Lyft daily last Fall. It made getting to a restaurant at a different resort so quick and easy. We also used it every night to get back to the resort - soooo much better than waiting with the crowd for Disney transportation.

We pretty much only used Disney transportation to get to the parks in the morning.
