Uber transportation for hotels within a mile?

Hello experts! Trying to decide on hotels for Disneyland in December. We normally stay across the street (best western, tropicana) when we go, however this year looking at less expensive options like Kings Inn or Lulu as they are less than half the cost (Savings over $1000). Two adults, so normally walking isn't too much of an issue but unfortunately my DH has arthritis. Worried the longer walk will be a concern at the end or middle of the day (as we get older, we enjoy naps!). Can we take an Uber or cab from the park to a hotel that is only a mile or so away without too much hassle? I know it's not always ideal for drivers to take short trips, but wondering if it would work for days he can't make the walk? Thank you.

No one here can predict what rides Uber/Lyft drivers will accept, BUT you should know that rides that short make these drivers almost no money, so it may be a struggle.

Choose a walkable hotel, would be my advice.

I think Hotel Lulu is an easy walk to the nearby Disney surface parking lot where you can ride the bus back and forth to the parks if necessary. Free and no waiting on Uber drivers.

I agree with @DLgal - that close will be a struggle. We stayed across the Street at the Sheraton and did Uber a couple times but we came from the DL hotel at night and had no issues. I will say the walk to/from the Sheraton really wasn't a problem for us, even in the heat of the day, one day we took the Disney shuttle from DL to Toy Story parking and felt it was not worth the wait time - easier to just walk it.

Cabs will be no problem. Rideshare might be. As DLgal said, drivers will make almost nothing on a short ride so many won't take it.

You'll likely find a driver at some point but it may be a long wait.

It's actually not. It is the same distance to get to the part of the Toy Story lot where the buses load than to just walk to the park entrance on Harbor. You can't "cut through" the parking lot.

It's only 0.5 miles from Hotel Lulu to the Harbor passenger drop off area. It's also 0.5 if you walk to where the Toy Story buses load. That would end up being a colossal waste of time.

Hotel Lulu is a shorter walk than King's Inn, due to how King's is set back from Katella, requiring you to walk out to the front, then around the corner and over to Harbor. I'd choose Lulu.

Take this with a grain of salt because this was in October 2021 but we only had one issue getting an Uber on a weeklong trip from the Dolphins Cove around the corner from Hotel Lulu. Our issue was on a night where a crazy storm came and everyone left at once. We also walked to the Toy Story lot a few times but I didn't like that at all.

I usually stay about 1.5 to 2 miles away and have never had an issue getting an Uber or Lyft to and from the park. I could see if it was one of the ones directly across Harbor or very close being a problem. But I’ve never had an issue with the ones that are semi-close. (Like the ones up Harbor further near Roscoe’s and such, or hotels on Katella, Clementine, etc.)

You absolutely can. We have done Lyft (I don't use Uber) to the Motel 6 nearby numerous times. I'm also a former Lyft driver. Short rides can help drivers hit bonuses faster and they can turn right around and get another ride when they drop you off. I always tip well too.

We generally had no problems on our recent trip getting Lyfts to/from either the Harbor Blvd dropoff or Grand Californian to the Springhill Suites Anaheim Resort Convention Center. It was uniformly around $10 for an XL and only a few minutes' wait.

The only exception was one night when the nearest driver accepted our ride request but was in the middle of finishing a ride and it took substantially longer than Lyft anticipated for him to complete his prior ride (not sure what happened there but the issue didn't have anything to do with the length of our ride and that driver was one of the best we've ever had, so I don't think it was his fault).
