Uber Surge Pricing?

We normally take DRE to our hotel, but because it'll just be me with two kids and my brother will be getting to the hotel a few hours before me, it makes more sense to take Uber from LAX.

The prices I'm seeing from Uber are aroun $39-$51. Has anyone ever paid more than the highest price there? I know they sometimes have surge pricing, but I don't know how high it could go.

We'll probably be through customs, luggage, etc at 330- 4 pm.

Surge pricing would be more like the day before thanksgiving, I would expect you would be at the higher end if its on a weekday due to traffic

I think there's a limit on how high the surge can go from LAX. But I've seen it as high as 4.5 for a non-airport ride. I don't think they actually cap it, so it could be even higher at a time with extreme demand.

Instead of Uber/Lyft, I prefer using GoSedan as a hire vehicle, professional driver, will meet you at the terminal once you clear the customs area.

Here is a link, which has a $10 off deal.

I use Execucar, which is the same company as Supershuttle. They have levels of service from meet and greet to a cheaper dedicated car. They compare pricing to their shared Supershuttle services, which is nice, especially with multiple people where the break even is probably when you add the 3rd person.

I usually just deny the surge pricing and it asks if you want to know when a car will be available without surge pricing and I click yes and pretty much within a minute I get a car at normal pricing.

There is no Uber Surge Pricing Cap, but item app will tell you ahead of time. before you confirm your ride. Was taking with a driver recently who was in LA NYE and they hit an 8X surge in downtown! He said it was a good night!

If you log on and get surge pricing, you can just check back in a few minutes as well as look at other levels of service. Where there may a surge for UberX, there may not be for XL or Select.

I had to get through Burbank once without delay and got and Uber Black cheaper than an UberX with surge pricing!...juts gotta look at all your options.

That's interesting. I have the app, however i haven't seen so far that option. Is that new? tia
