We are thinking about using Uber this trip. After punching the numbers it could save us about $300 but I would love to hear peoples' experiences. We are staying at Cabana Bay with 3 days at Universal this time (first trip to Universal) and 2 days at Disney. We need transportation to and from Orlando Airport and to and from Magic Kingdom and Epcot for 4 people (2 adults, 1 adults sized daughter aged 13 and 9 year old daughter).

Heads up -- If you have much luggage, you might need an XL from & to the airport.

I drive for Uber and Lyft in North Carolina. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

One thing to keep in mind is that only Uber Select and Uber Black are allowed to pick up at MCO. UberX and UberXL can drop you off at MCO.

With 4 people and luggage I would highly suggest using UberXL for the room. UberX can be any small sedan to hold a total of 5 people. Luggage may not fit.

A lot of people here will tell you Uber/Lyft are a terrific (convenient/affordable) option vs. renting a car. Definitely UberXL, however, for size of your party and luggage.

If your final two days are MK and Epcot, you might want to spend them on-site at WDW at a comparable-rate resort. (In other words, a Universal/WDW split stay.) You'll be able to take Disney transportation to the parks without needing a ride share at all, and you'll be eligible to take DME back to MCO for free.

I did my split stay the opposite way, 2 days at Disney first so I could use DME from the airport. Then I used Lyft to get to CBBR and the airport. They were smallish cars but I was solo. You would need a bigger car for that many people and luggage.

The trip is a gift Fromm my parents. Already a done deal, so no chance of staying on site at Disney.

How do I differentiate and do Uberxl?

After you enter your destination in the app, the Request Uber screen will come up. In the center of the screen, it will show the fare and the type of vehicle. Swipe the vehicle type right or left to change to other available vehicle types, before you press the Request button. (This is on Android; I haven't seen the iPhone app.)

From the airport, Select or Select XL is available. From Universal, UberX, UberXL, or Select.

XL will cost about $10 more than a smaller car.
