Has anybody else checked the Uber estimate pricing the last few days? It is crazy Uberxl from Contemporary to Dis Spring $80. MCO to Boardwalk $110. Has anybody down there experienced this? I just noticed the the prices are starting to fall a little. Its crazy that Uber black at 33 is cheaper than X at 45 Blt to the Springs.

I noticed that too! Supply vs demand + covid = high Uber and Lyft prices!

Does anyone know if you schedule an Uber, are you able to see the price you will be charged? Can the price change from what you are quoted?
thanks

You can do this right now in the app and check. Just don’t actually schedule the ride.

Makes renting a car a bit more cost effective.. if you are staying dvc atleast.

If I do schedule the ride, will they tell me what I am paying and charge my credit card right away?
No. They won't charge your credit card until the ride is actually ordered.

Something to know about "scheduling." All that means is that your ride will be offered to a driver at a certain time...usually 15 minutes or so early. It's not actual scheduling in the real sense.

Both Uber and Lyft use "dynamic pricing." The more demand, the higher the fare. And the driver gets not one penny of that added fare.

Thank you for the information, I was assuming that scheduling meant you were ordering the ride but for a time in the future. Did not realize the price would be determined at the actual scheduled time the ride was accepted. Do you open the application a few minutes before to see if anyone has accepted?

They notify you that the ride has been assigned.

I personally don't like the idea of scheduled rides, because a) they are not really scheduled, and b) the early dispatch of the ride can lead to cancellation fees if the driver shows up before you scheduled the pickup and you're not there. If "scheduled" meant you could select a driver ahead of time, that would be a different story.

But "scheduled" is really just a device to lock you into one company and offers zero benefit to the rider.

I don't know about FL, but in PA gas prices have risen over $1 in the past couple of months. I imagine this might also impact prices, in addition to high demand.

Naw. Uber and Lyft don't pay a penny for gas. The driver pays for the gas, and the car payment, and the insurance, and the maintenance, and...

Oh, okay! I wasn't sure how that worked, and thought it might affect overall price.

I booked a car service, MCO to Portofino, next month. Rates on Uber Lyft are often around $50. Include the value of the included grocery stop and the price is similar.

I'm not going to wait in MCO hoping the fare will go down. Plus app suggested a 15 minute wait a couple of times

Yep. That's the secret of rideshare -- the drivers pay all the costs. The drivers get paid a flat fee per mile, plus a flat fee per minute.

I'm not current on Orlando driver pay rates, but they used to be the lowest in the country -- tied with Detroit, I think.

Last time I was in orlando I scheduled a ride to the airport at 6am from A Disney resort. They sent me a email at 5:50am and said they were cancelling it because no drivers were available. So I signed on ordered one and it was there in 10 mins. There stupid schedule thing is a joke. I can find no purpose into using it it just sends for a ride at the time you asked.

The surging is happening in the whole country. Maybe it’s because it’s spring break. I do not exactly know.

In late February , my XL from MCO to Universal was $37.00. Tried to get an XL back to airport and it was $103.00. Crazy fluctation in price. And that is from Universal which is much closer to MCO than Disney. I can only imagine what it would have costed from WDW property. Makes me not look forward to ME ending. Also, the arrival of Uber decimated the number of true metered taxi's that are around. So, if its busy or not enough drivers, people might be in a tight spot trying to catch a flight.
