I was planning on using Uber to pick us up at Fort Lauderdale airport and drop off in Miami (for a Disney Cruise). I have been reading conflicting messages about Uber with pick ups and drop offs at the airports. Does anyone know if Uber can pick up and drop off at Fort Lauderdale Airport?

This is a really good question!!! I wonder how to get a quote for this. Keep me posted if you find anything out.

Airport policies regarding Uber vary by airport - every one is different. Unfortunately, Fort Lauderdale does not permit pickups at the airport. You would need to get off airport grounds (free hotel/rental car shuttle) before calling an Uber.

In order to get a fare estimate, you need to download the Uber app and set up an account (free). You can enter a location and destination and it will give you a range within $5 of what your fare will be.

I was planning the same but someone on here recently told me Uber isn't operating in Ft. Lauderdale at all right now.

That's accurate actually. I just looked into it a little more and unfortunately it looks like no Uber there at all.

I've been reading conflicting accounts of using UBER at MCO which I plan to do in two days. How could an "official" at the airport even know that a car is an Uber? I don't get how it can be against some law.

Anyway, others posted that they got picked up at a local hotel next to the airport which I guess if I'm forced to do, I will. Just curious if anyone else had any recent experiences with UBER at Orlando Intl'. Thanks in advance.

Taxis are HIGHLY regulated. Both to protect the taxis businesses and to protect us. Uber isn't a taxi company. It's a bunch of individuals (vetted, background-checked individuals, yes). It's a new player. The taxi companies, who pay heavy fees, don't like it. So they are making sure Uber/Lyft are regulated as well.

An Uber driver who decides to go rogue and pick someone up at an airport that isn't allowing it is going to get in trouble if caught. Since people are doing this for money, they wouldn't want to have that happen.

In my experience, the Uber app actually prevents you from placing an Uber request while on airport grounds - which they can tell/block based on your GPS location on your phone. You wouldn't be able to submit one at all until you're off property.

When you get to the off site put the request in. There is a pin that is your position, move it to just off site across from the hotel if it won't let you enter, then text the driver and let him know your exact location. They are familiar with thus type of request.

Yep, that's the plan.....thanks!

I was thinking of using Uber for my next trip in Nov and these are some great tips. Thanks!
