Yes, but Uber Black is more expensive than a cab (it will be in the $80 to $100 dollar range) and will still take 60 to 90 minutes, just like a cab or a town car.
Yeah, it's not really. If you did want to use it you'd have to take one of the Hotel buses somewhere off site, then call them. The drive to Disney is 30 min, no matter who drives.
We love using a car service. They are waiting for us by baggage claim, and they are able to park nearby-saves a lot of time. It is fast...maybe an hour (usually a little less) from the time we see them in baggage claim to when we we are checking in.
You still need to be leaving WDW at least 2.5 hours before your flight.
DME takes 70-90 minutes from the time you step off the plane. It takes 15 minutes or so to get to baggage claim from when you step off the plane. That would put your time frame when using a car service at around 80 minutes or so.
We didn't in Oct. We called for Uber 2 hours before our flight left. We were at our gate 1 hour before departure.
It's a bit of a game to us, I check the time as we walk in the terminal. The speed is why we use the service.
You were very lucky. 1 hour waits at security at MCO are not unheard of. I wouldn't feel comfortable pushing it that close.
We always take the last flight out to Atlanta and were aware of how the crowds are at that time. After several trips waiting for 2 hours at the gate I was comfortable in our time frame
If you're interested in comparing it to DME times, make sure you start timing from the second you step off the plane. Timing it from baggage claim won't be of any use.
