On this weeks DIS Unplugged, John mentioned that Uber (a private driver app service) was coming to Orlando. I'm heading to WDW in a little over a week and I thought this could be useful because we're staying offsite the first night and didn't want to fight for parking at DTD.

While looking into it a little more I discovered since the service is new to Orlando, fares are free up to $25, 10 trips per user until June 20. I'm excited to try it out and thought you DISers might be interested as well.

Thanks for this info! Would you mind reporting back on how it worked after you use it? I'm skeptical about it, especially with it being new to the area. If it's seamless, we will take advantage of it in November!

I love Uber! I use it in my area all the time. I live, work and go out in the city so it works out well for me. Not cheap, but clean, fast and you look swanky getting in and out of the back a black Town Car.:cutie: It'll be interesting to see how it fairs in Orlando.

I would suggest doing some googling before taking advantage of this new service. They've been in the news a lot lately......sometimes it's just better to pay for the cab.

Could you elaborate, because I didn't see anything.

And I just saw the service coming to Orlando is Uber X. I have no experience with that service. It's different than straight up Uber.

I've used Uber/UberX/UberTaxi in new markets a few times. It can be a little spotty as drivers aren't used to the way Uber sends addresses instead of locations.

It's considered polite (and can save you time) if you send the driver a text message via "message your driver" right after the Uber is requested. "We're at Pop Century, at the main entrance" or similar.

Beyond that, the worst experience I had with an Uber driver involved excess cologne.
