Uber and luggage--UPDATE

we are thinking about taking Uber to our hotel then renting a car the next morning (I turn 25 the next day and renting a car for one day "under age" is being a pain) my question is, there will be 3 of us along with 3 bigger luggage bags and carry ones. In your experience has your Uber been able to handle this? We just don't know what route to go to keep it the cheapest. We are flying into LAX. Thanks so much!

We've used Uber several times as a family of 4 and never had an issue. It'll depend on what level of service you get though. We always get a SUV so there's always plenty of room for 4 carry-ons plus 2 large suitcases.

We are a family of 3 (child in a car seat), and once we were picked up in a Prius. We barely got our 2 pieces of luggage in the trunk, and the stroller had to go in the backseat with us. It might be possible, but you never know what size trunk space you will be getting. All our other cars have been sedans, so had no issues putting it all in the trunk.

You will want to request an UberXL which is a larger car.

If it's your first time using Uber search for a coupon code. I got $20 off my first Uber! And Uber XL costs a bit more but you won't have any space worries, so I vote that too.

Call the driver and ask. We managed to get a 2 adults, two kids, a large checked bag and 4 rollaboards into a Honda Fit. We didn't think we could do it, but it worked out well.

When you schedule your Uber it will tell you what type car is picking you up, along with the driver name and contact, and how long it will be before they arrive. If it comes up with something you think is too small you can cancel and try again. Or just pay the extra and book an XL.

Thanks for all the replies! for those of you who have used UberXL, is it cheaper to do it that way or is it cheaper to pay $90 total for the 3 of us to just use the Disneyland express? Like i said we are just trying to keep our trip there on the cheaper side since we are renting a car the next morning! Renting a car under age for 6 hours is around $130 so i would rather not go that route obviously

Also those of you who have used Disneyland express, how long does it usually take to get to your hotel? We are staying at BW Pavillions? I would assume Uber would be much, much faster

If someone in your party has not used Uber, they can download the app and have someone that has used it send them a discount code. I'm happy to do that if you need one. Thanks for all the help! I think Uber XL is the way we are going to go! And I used uber for the first time 2 weeks ago in a trip to Denver bit my husband hasn't! So I'll make him sign up ! I also think Uber will be our fastest option! We fly into LAX at 5 so we already are going to hit traffic but would like to get there asap to enjoy just a few hours in the park and watch fireworks that evening!

We arrived at LAX around 4:50 last evening. Time we got our bags it was a little after 5. We sent for just an UberX which turned out to be a Prius. We got all our bags perfectly in the back (one checked bag and 3 carry ons) we hit NO stop and go traffic! We arrived at best western pavilions a little over a. Hour later! I had my husband download the app and I sent him a referral code and we paid $28.94 total for our ride for the 3 of us!!!! I don't this you can beat that price!!

I was going to say, I drive a Prius and I can fit a crap-ton of stuff in my trunk. We've done plenty of road trips in it and even fit my daughter's bike in the trunk along with luggage one trip (she was 5 so it was a small bike, but still)
