Can I ask how long your would allow for changeover at Phaladelphia. We had 2 hours but have have just checked the flights and its now 1hr 45 mins.:scared1: we won`t have enough time.

Are you booked on a through ticket? If you are I wouldn't worry too much as if you miss your connecting flight due to say your first flight being delayed then it will be the airlines duty to get you on another flight, whichever has seats available.

I have a 2 hour stopover (I think) in Newark in May but I've checked and there's several other flights after mine if the worst comes to the worst!

The airline has to ensure that you have a 'legal' connection time, I think it's something like an hour for international connections. If you miss your connection, I believe they're obliged to provide you with a ticket for the next available flight providing the connection time was legal.

I've done it in 90 minutes before, it was NOT FUN - I have never run so fast in my entire life! Are there any better connecting flights that day? If so, you can ask your airline if you can switch :confused3

This connection gets us into Orlando at 6.17pm the next connection doesn`t get in until after 9pm so quite a long time.

Looking at the map of Philadephia Airport it looks like we could land at Terminal A West and fly out from Terminal B is it a long distance between them? its hard to tell just from a printed map.

If we opted to stay with these flights and missed the connection would we get put on the next flight the one that gets in about 9pm? We have always flown direct before so its all new to us.

Yes we are booked on a through ticket booked it all direct with U S Airways.
Sorry have just realised put UA Airways in the title.

Thanks for replying, according to the US Airways site when I logged in we have to confirm this amendment or ring them.

The problem won't be distance between terminals - it will be getting through immigration. Depending on the line length you could be there for over an hour.

We've only flown with US Airways once and we missed our connecting flight to Las Vegas because the international flight was late getting into Philadelphia. We were put on their next flight out. If I remember rightly we only had a short time to get our connecting flight and when I enquired about it, I was told it was enough time!

Suppose we will just have to keep our fingers crossed and not dither once we get off the flight from Manchester providing is on time

Think I`ll ring US Airways tomorrow (last time I rang spoke to a girl based in Liverpool..we are only down the road). Just let them confirm as they have amended the times then its possible to do.
Funny how they changed the times and didn`t e`mail us I only found out because I went to check our seats were still the same.

Thanks

I've done the international connection in Phil. a few times, although not to Orlando. You won't have time to sit and have a bite to eat, but 1hr 45 min should be do-able. Lines at immigration can be long, but they are usually fairly efficient. Customs is also the same way - just make sure that you don't have any snacks bought in transit that aren't allowed in (I had a bottle of orange juice and a couple of apples purchased at Gatwick and not consumed in-flight - fortunately the officer was very understanding). Re-checking luggage is also pretty easy.

Since this connection is a pretty popular one, you can bet the USAirways has a good idea you can make it - it would cost them too much to have to rebook numerous international passengers on the next flight to Orlando.

Have a great trip!

We've always flown with US Airways via Philly on every trip to Orlando. It is a long way between terminals and as others have said, you won't have time to sit and eat.

Our advice would be to not dawdle. The queues for immigration can be long but we've not had major issues there. The queues for Security can vary so much. One Easter the crowds were horrendous and we were concerned we might miss the connection - but we didn't and (touch wood!) haven't ever done so far. We usually have around 2 hours as the connection time.

HTH

Hi juliebro, we won`t be eating or sitting this wasn`t in the plan when we booked. We did have 2 hours afew weeks ago but today saw its now 1hr 45 mins so hoping the 15 mins they have taken off us won`t make too much difference.
Heres hoping we get in the fastest moving queues :snail:
