U/Y Question regarding Transfer

Hi.
I have points in my September 2015 U/Y for SSR, which I am thinking about
doing a point transfer out to use the money for a 2015 cruise for my dd and me for her 21st birthday while she is home in March for her college's spring break (and keeping dh and ds at home since they have work/school).

Anyway, how exactly can the points be used if I do a transfer to someone.
A set number of 2015 SSR September U/Y points can be used from is this correct, September 1, 2014 - August 2016. Bookings with SSR 11 months from today and 7 months anytime after September 1, 2014?
Is that correct? I get so confused LOL

your 2015 UY pts are valid for stays from Sept 1, 2015 to Aug 31, 2016. you can bank those pts forward to your 2016 UY which means they would be valid for stays from Sept 1, 2016 to Aug 31, 2017.

UY has nothing at all to do with when you can call to book. SSR pts can be used to book SSR at 11 months out and other resorts at 7 months out - but the dates of the stay are what is critical.

all of the above continues to be true if the pts are transferred. transferred pts cannot be borrowed. transferred pts will likely not be viewable online by the transferee.

(neither banked nor borrowed pts can be transferred out, so make sure not to do either of those beforehand.)

The biggest issue with transfers is that according to DVC rules, you can't accept money for them.

You may be better off renting a reservation to someone.

Everything is based on time of travel, not when you call. So, someone getting those points would be able to use them for books during the September 2015 UY. If they want, they can bank them so they can use them during the September 2016 UY. However, they would not be able to borrow them to travel during the September 2014 UY.

So, someone could call as early as October 2014 to book a trip for September 2015 for SSR, and as early as February 2015 to book any other resort for travel in September 2015.

Also, the points will not show up online unless the person receiving the points owns SSR with a September UY. If they do not, they will have to call MS to use the points when booking a reservation.

Thank you. It would be points not borrowed or banked, which is what I have but will confirm again with MS.

Hmm. Can the OP do this transfer yet? A September UYis currently in 2013, so this is not next year's points, it's the following year's points. I think you might not be able to transfer Sept 2015 points until Sept 1, 2014.

I was at the end of my 2010 UY and was able to receive 2012 pints via transfer...so it has been allowed..at least in my case...
