Hi folks. I have just been looking at car reservations, and U-Save at Lakeland airport is significantly cheaper than any other on or off-site rental companies.

Does anyone have experience with U-Save at Lakeland?

Thanks.

Very few have even posted about using Lakeland for their flights. But, the way I figure it is...you get what you pay for. If you go with a company that is significantly cheaper than all the others, there is probably a reason for it.

@Goofy4Tink - my questions wasn't about using Lakeland, it was about using U-Save. Direct Air had a flight sale from the north east - going to Lakeland.

I think the point goofy4tink was making is that commercial air service to Lakeland Linder Airport is very new and very limited. Perhaps goofy4tink has seen a few reports here with actual experiences flying into Lakeland, but I haven't noticed any such reports myself. I also haven't seen any reports from people with experience renting cars from either Hertz or U-Save at Lakeland Linder Airport.

I've never used U-Save anywhere. According to their website, U-Save has been around since 1979. Looking further at their website, their growth has been driven by selling franchises to local operators.

The Lakeland franchise has its own website. According to their "About Us" page at http://www.usavelakeland.com/about-us/ they've only been in business since June 23, 2011.

I'm not saying they're good or bad. I am saying they're very new.

Presumably they're betting on the success of DirectAir at Lakeland.

Yes, that was my point...thanks.

We flew into Lakeland last month and had a great flight. We rented from Hertz though because I didn't know anything about U-Save and I got a fairly good deal through Hertz using one of the codes off of mousesavers.com. We plan to use Lakeland and Hertz again in January. I was very pleased with the service we got and I really like using small airports. I just couldn't beat the 1/2 price sale with Direct Air!

Hertz and U Save are the only agencies in the airport. They should extend their operating hours to accommodate delayed flights and should open early enough to accept returns from passengers on morning flights. No guarantee an offsite agency will do either.

PL doesn't offer "name your own price" car rentals from Lakeland.

Use mousesaver codes to try to find a reasonable price from Hertz. Try AAA. Member of COSTCO. They sometimes have Hertz offers in the warehouses.

Understand the rental agencies at Lakeland won't be doing the same amount of business they do in MCO. Very little competition. Look for a good price but don't expect to easily find the deeply discounted, money losing, rates we're sometimes able to find in MCO.

Great to hear. Many of us are on the edge of our seats to know how the Direct Air/Lakeland experience was. Thanks for posting.

I am a frequent family ties flyer with Direct Air and have rented from U-Save many times in Myrtle Beach, SC. They have the best rates and new cars.

I have flown into Lakeland twice already and was delayed and they were there to assist me.

I found U-save thru the Direct Air website and U-Save is the preferred rental agency of Direct Air. I believe they opened in Lakeland primarily because of their relationship with Direct Air in myrtle.

The best thing I like about usave is they have a pricematch guarantee and when I call their 800#, I get a human and not a automated machine.

I am flying to Lakeland in October and usave is running a 50% off sale thru November.

Anyway, I will always use usave in lakeland and myrtle beach.
