Passport fees will increase by $35.00 as of March 11, 2010.
Adults will go from $75.00 to $110.00.
Kids under 16 will go from $60.00 to $95.00.
Plus $25.00 to the passport agency. The $25.00 fee does not apply to a renewal for an adult.

Wow!! Thankfully I got mine last year, Dh and 1 DD just renewed theirs, the other DD, her's doesn't expire until next year.

That is a crazy increase!!

If you don't have one, I would get it now!!

I thought adults were $100 already?? I better hurry then, we keep putting it off so this will make me get our applications in on Monday then!

Dang! I'd better go check the expiration date on mine and get DD10's done QUICK!

Wow....thanks for the heads up! I have our pics and paperwork ready, but haven't made it in yet. We will be getting there this week though!

Thanks for the heads-up. DH & I need to renew ours asap and this news makes puts passport renewal at the top of the to-do list. Had new photos taken today and will take care of the paperwork Monday morning. Thanks again!

It is a total of $100. now. $75.00 for the passport fee and $25.00 to the passport agency or Post Office.

The increase is $35.00 for the passport fee. The $25.00 fee stays the same.
$110.00 for the passport. For a total of $135.00.

My international travel will consist of Epcot :thumbsup2

Hmmm...and I know it will be totally INSANE to try to do this next weekend! We were planning to do this at some point but have no international trips planned. I guess we'll have to talk it over SOON...;o) Yeah, just how I wanted to spend a Saturday afternoon.

I'd say it balances out: If you wait, the passports'll cost more; but if you get them now at current prices, a whole year of your time will go un-used.
Two things, though. The dollar is (probably) worth more now than it will be a year from now.

Also, spending $100 for a passport she won't need for a year - so, effective use years = nine - breaks down to $11.11 per year. Paying $135 a year from now, making the passport worthwhile for its full ten years, breaks down to $13.50 per year. AND, as additional support for getting it now... a passport supersedes almost all other forms of identifications. For example, to prove one is a U.S. citizen when being hired by a new employer, a passport can be used alone; a driver's license can be used in combination with a raised-seal birth certificate (examples only; it's a "one from column A" or "one from column B plus one from column C"-type thing)

Mine went from US$75 to just more than $300.

I live overseas and Americans living overseas must apply through their local consulate and/or embassy. We cannot mail them in for renewal to the processing center.

The local Consular Agent refused, four times, to accept the application for processing. Technically she only refused to accept every form of payment listed on the application. Won't even take good old US dollars cash.

So... now mine costs
$75 for the passport +
$60 expedite fee +
$69 service fee to a company that stands in line for an "emergency appointment" for me +
$97 in FedEx fees for shipping.
= $301 total

Letter of complaint to the Bureau of Consular Affairs at the Department of State... PRICELESS.

It's still cheaper than flying to Miami and then doing the emergency appointment myself.

Lesson to the wise... don't lose your passport while in Cayman on your DCL trip. I have no idea how you could pay the fees to process an emergency passport. Your family can send you money via Western Union but the local office won't accept it for payment.

Cute answer but I've been to the London section at Epcot and then to London for real. Epcot is wonderful...but it just doesn't compare. ;)

Italy next spring!!

This is precisely why I want to get them for my kids although, as I said, we have no plans for travel abroad. It will make flying so much easier as they are starting to ask DS to tell them his name and age, and he's only 7! Also, even if we just wanted to hop over to Niagara Falls for a day, you need it to go to the Canadian side now!

So, it will just simplify things all round. And we are doing two more plane trips this year (Arizona and Florida, but still...)

I do too, I have it all ready to go so I guess I will be doing this sooner rather than later. THanks for the heads up!
