U.S. NABS AL QAEDA INFILTRATORS IN WOMENS BOOK CLUB
Buffalo Cell Member Blows Cover During Discussion of A Map of the World
FBI agents took into custody today four members of an alleged al Qaeda sleeper cell who had successfully infiltrated a womens book club in suburban Buffalo, NY.
While the FBI refused to speculate as to whether there were other al Qaeda members infiltrating womens book clubs in Western New York, the agency cited the Buffalo cell as an example of how al Qaeda members can go about their business completely undetected.
The fact that these four men were able to participate in an otherwise all-womens book club should illustrate just how cleverly al Qaeda members can operate, said an FBI spokesman in Buffalo.
While the al Qaeda members did in fact remain inconspicuous for the lions share of their eight-month membership in the book club, one of the men reportedly blew his cover last Thursday during a discussion of the book A Map of the World, by Jane Hamilton.
According to sources close to the book club, when the man was asked to identify his favorite character in the book, he blurted out Ramzi bin al-Shibh, the name of an al Qaeda mastermind recently detained in Karachi, Pakistan.
After the FBI apprehended the men, members of the book club expressed shock and dismay at al Qaedas successful infiltration of their group, saying that the four men had never shown signs of being terrorists.
They always did their reading and contributed to the group discussions, said Noelle Sternin, the groups chief organizer. I was really looking forward to hearing what they had to say about How Stella Got Her Groove
