I have never participated in this but while at college orientation for DS one of the speakers said it's never too late to start. Does anyone have any information about this? Annmarie

I've been a member for a couple of years now. Basically, you link UPromise to your Grocery Card, Pharmacy Card and even Credit or Debit cards. When you purchase items from the grocery store or pharmacy, or use an attached credit/debit card at a participating restaurant or to buy gas, UPromise credits your account with a portion of the sale (usually 1% - 3%) .

So for example, you link your grocery card to UPromise. Later you go shopping for food and buy a weeks worth, including Kraft Mac and Cheese and some Coke. Your account will be credited around 1% of the Kraft and Coke purchases.

It also works for certain gas stations, like Exxon and restaurants.

Hope this helps.

I have been a member of Upromise for a few years and I have a couple hundred dollars saved for my kids school. I use it if I am shopping online because several companies are on there.

My mom signed up as well and registered her cards for my kids and the money goes to them. When she bought a car they got a certain amount of money. I think if you use a certain realtor and buying a house you get money.

I have registered my debit/credit cards and money gets deposited in the account if you eat a certain restaurants like Chevys for example.

I know that AOL and Upromise have a thing going where you can get money for that.

On the buget board there was someone who posted that you dont actually have to use it for college and they actually pull the money out of the account and use it for Disney. (They said that they have other funds for their kids) But I dont know all the details and we just leave the money where it is at.

Hope it helps.

I am using upromise for DD. I do my shoppings as I normally would. I use Texaco-mobil for gas and it seems they are the one that pay me the most. I also get money for my AA miles. CVS also pays good.

I'm doing it for my baby niece. I registered mine and my husband's Stop & Shop and A&P cards, and our CVS cards. The money adds up. Haley (she's a year) already has 65.00. I also opened a 529 account through them for her, and she has 250 in there.

You can shop through their site as well for rewards, and if you buy a GM car, you'll get credit for that.
