U Haul?

There is larger vehicle parking at some of the resorts, you would have to check with security.

No chest size deep freezers.
me too... wondering if the two questions are related. do they need the uhaul to keep all of their hunting equipment and then the deep freezer to store the kills to eventually eat in their villa?
WE are a large family of 16. UHaul is to carry extra stuff: table, folding chairs, crock pot, deep fryer. My DB wants to know can he bring the chest freezer for pre-frozen meals. I saw a YouTube video that showed a laundry room with extra space to hold a chest size deep freezer. I just don't remember which resort. We are from TX, but we don't hunt. Just 6 healthy strapping young men and 1 old fart(DB)!

That sounds more like you're going camping than staying in a GV. A table? Deep fryer - I actually doubt that is allowed in a hotel accommodation.

Which resorts have the Grand Villas? I think I counted 6.

OKW, SSR, BWV, AKV Jambo and Kidani, BLT, VGF and CCV. The three that do not have GV's are BCV, Boulder Ridge and PVB.

We did have a small UHaul trailer once when we brought eight of our son's friends with us for a post HS graduation trip. We took both cars so we had all 11 of us in the two vehicles. And the UHaul for all the luggage. We were at OKW in a GV and they gave us a parking pass for the trailer when we disconnected it from the one car.

Deb & Bill,
Thanks so much, this is what I wanted to know. I understand OKW is the oldest DVC, so it's a little larger than the newer builds. Is this true?

Yes. But your biggest problem with all that stuff is carrying it up the stairs. Most of the GV at OKW start on the second floor of the buildings and they don't have elevators in most of the buildings. Carrying a chest freezer and a table up the stairs might be a big pain.

Our trip was in 2011.

Since it would have a kitchen you can have lets say more advanced appliances but I'm thinking no on a deep fryer for a few issues. First it could be seen as a fire hazard but worse is that the grease smell with cling to every surface. :faint:

As for the freezer I don't think so.

But the uHaul would be no different than anyone else pulling up in a RV.

I'm guessing a uHaul is a small trailer, not a truck. If the resort won't allow you to park it, I'm sure that you can unload and move it to another location. Fort Wilderness has plenty of parking for trailers and trucks.

I would also think that the resort would see it as a fire hazard, but who knows. Disney has surprised me many times before.

You can only put 12 in a GV, so you will need a second unit. It may be better/easier to get 2 - 2BR units.

Agree. Plus what happens to the used oil? AFAIK, there is no easy way to dispose of that at a DVC resort.

CRO will not rent GV, you will need to rent points or have plenty of your own. They usually are all gone soon after the 11 month window, so plan early.

I think the OP needs to contact the resorts to find out:
  1. What small appliances if any are you allowed to bring to the resort.
  2. And can you bring in a chest freezer into a villa.
I think DVC is pretty strict. Small appliances are frequently brought into a studio where there isn't the counter space to use them, and guests do not ask DVC if they can bring them in. But a chest freezer, where would you put it? And does it work on a regular outlet? Good luck finding one of those in a villa near any wall space you could put the freezer on. Plus would you report any damage you do to the elevators, floors, or walls bring that in? And once you have it the villa will you have good open access to the exit in case of an emergency?

With 16 people you will have to be in two villas, so I would say use the two full size refrigerators in two 2BR villas for your frozen items and plans on cooking some meal for the family or eating out. And skip the freezer and deep fryer which is a fire hazard.
