Hi, now that we have decided to change our dates (after taking advice from the board) ...... can anyone tell me what the typical wait times for rides in WDW is around the last week in August?

The plan now is to spend the 10 days in August at Vistana Villages doing VVDW and then move to HRH at Universal for the remaining four. This will run into Labor Day weekend but it shouldn't matter then (should it?) if we have HRH's FOTL? Does this sound ok?

Many thanks

Martina

We were in WDW the last two weeks of August last year and the wait times for the standard lines were anything from 15 minutes to well over 40 minutes. Rides like Test Track had lines over 90 minutes somedays. It's best to get to the parks early, or later in the day (park hours are extended in the summer). Or try the rides during the parades.
We also found that the crowds did fall off slightly the last week we were there - I believe a lot of schools in the States go back around the middle of August.

Having said that, we made good use of Fastpass and we never waited in line for more 15-20 minutes. It's possible, with some careful planning and timing to have 2 or 3 Fastpasses in your hand for various rides. On the most popular rides the Fastpasses do run out though, or have a return time that is hours away.

As Tim correctly says the end of august tends to be less busy than the beginning.

Labour day will still be busy, but staying on site at HRH is going to take the sting out of the worst of it. You'll still have waits for food, drinks and those attractions that don't have front of the line access.

Queue times cam always be a bit tricky to tie down due to individual rides and parks having surges. But 15-20 minutes for most of them is a fair guess with some of the bigger/newer attractions having longer ones.

Hi There
We were there in Aug 02.
We arrived on 19th Aug and stayed at the Poly...we hardly qued at all...the longet wait we had was 15mins and that was at MGM Rand R...and believe me we hit the parks at every time of day possible!!!! We had Annual passes so my boys just went where ever ...whenever.
We then went over to HRH for our last 5 nts on 30th Aug...like you it was labour weekend..and again no problems with the ques!!!
Actually we we really surprised...we did nt need to get fastpass at Disney or use FOL at IOA and US.

We are going again this year and we will arrive on 14th Aug and leave on 5th sept...so i am still in the deciding stage as to wher we will stay and when...it will all depend on AP rates.

I have reservations at HRH club and the Dolphin concierge for some of the time but i still cannot decide...LOL.
well good luck planning

many many thanks for all your help! It's made me a little more settled about going at that time. I'm tied to school holidays also but because library classes don't usually start to the third week in September I may be able to swing it (hopefully!)

Thanks again, your invaluable help is most appreciated.

Martina :)

Hi there,

The longest waits we had were in Universal and IOA but then again we only queued for about 30 minutes for the busiest rides. Using Express Pass for Shrek 4D helped a great deal as this was the longest line. But we didn't find the lines at all bad.

My best tip is get up early and the do the really popular rides first. We walked straight on to Mission Space and Splash Mountain first thing in the morning. The longest wait time I saw for Mission Space later on in the day was 90 minutes :earseek:
