Hi!

I will be staying at the Dolphin with my son December 20 - 25th (CANNOT WAIT!!!!!).

We will be taking a shuttle or car service from the airport and plan to use disney transportation most of the time. He wants to do Universal 1 day, and we may go off-site to meet my dad for dinner or something 1 or 2 nights in the Lake Buena Vista area. At $500+ for a compact car (plus parking fees at the Dolphin), I think it's best to take cabs if we want to go off-site.

Does anyone have experience and typical fees for the cab services?

Thanks!

According to the taxi fare estimator on the Mears website the cost of a taxi from Epcot (I do not know the address of the Dolphin) to Universal is $29.75 one way. This does not take into consideration any traffic delays.

You also have another option. If you plan to use a car for only one day -there is a car rental location in either the Swan or the Dolphin - but I think it's the Dolphin. There's also a car rental place at the Car Care center (free shuttle from your resort) both are Alamo/National (the two companies are really one). I was just poking around myself and you can get a compact for about $50 a day. You can even erturn it the next morning for the same price. (or maybe rent the night before?) You'll then have to pay parking at Universal, but you'll also be able to come and go when you want, and will save time over a shuttle bus. I think the Mears bus leaves from TTC anyhow.
