We have never been to either as the kids had always seemed two young before. Now DS's are 5 and 3 and LOVE water slides, so I guess this is our year.

Which is better for little kids?

And is ther eshade or umbrellas at both? We have two blonde super pale boys that will need a bit of shade to last a long day.

Thanks so much

They both have there up sides for children. The famiy raft ride is longer at BB. They both have children's play areas. There seems to be a bit more shade at TL. However, neither has any real significant shade. The white concrete (and sand at TL) reflect that sun up something terrible. If they burn easy tee shirts w/ sunscreen will be in order.

Personally I really enjoy TL. But it's the theming that I completely fall for. I think it's great. That and I'm not really looking for thrill slides (which are more at BB).

Either way I don't think you can go wrong!!

Your 5 yr old may be too tall for the children's play areas, depending on height.

We have only been to BB and I know they have a really cool section for the younger kids that my children LOVED when they were little. It's called Tikes Peak and they have several different 'kid size' water slides along with water fountains for playing. I'm sure they would love it. I do suggest you go first thing in the morning as soon as they open because it can become VERY crowded by noon.

Have fun!

Five years old TOO TALL for the children's play areas?? What is the height restriction?? I was thinking that my 8 and 10 yo nieces could play in the children's play area.

BB has an area for Pre teen kids--to be honest I thought it was just a step up from the kiddie section. My kids at the time were 7 and 4 and loved this area. They are now 9 and 6 and they can't wait to go back to this area next week. There are chairs near this area as well. We liked this kid area better than the one at TL. The one there is just geared towards the little- little kids. My 2 cents worth.

Another vote for BB.....they hit the mark by providing the Jr. Ski Patrol area (for 4-8 year olds) in addition to Tikes Peak (for Toddlers/Pre-schoolers.) Lots of places ignore that 'inbetween' age group, but not BB. The BB family raft ride is the best as well.
We were there last June with DS-just turned 10, DD- just turned 6, and DS-3, and they were all happy. Even our then 3 year old loved the family raft ride despite the fact that he's not too adventurous.....I think being along with the whole family gave him a sense of security.

Key pluses at TL are the landscaping/theming and the excellent wave pool. I don't like the kids play area as much there.....lots of areas where kids can squirt water at the other kids which seems kind of un-fair to unsuspecting toddlers, but that might not be too big of a problem for you since your kids are more in the preschool age. Another plus at TL is that there's lots of sand if they like to dig.

Go to both if you can, but if you have to pick one and if your kids are more slide-oriented than play in the sand/waves-oriented, I'd pick BB.

Thanks so much to all of you for the great advice!

People on these boards are really in the know.

I appreciate all the info - thanks again

Typhoon lagoon by far for little ones. The wave pool is enough to keep them busy all day!:boat: :boat: pirate: pirate: :fish:

I agree with the others---BB is the best. We loved the family raft ride enought to do it many times---DH and DD7 are adventurous, and me and DS10 are wimps---but we all loved it!

The ski patrol area was great for the kids. The cutoff is 12--they would let me follow my kids in, even though I'm smaller than a lot of the 12-year-olds there!

As for the shade, we actually had a tropical storm the day we were there! What the heck, we were there to get wet anyway, and it kept the crowds low. BUT--my DS and I are very fair and burn easily, and I'm proud to say that we spent a week in August and didn't get ONE sunburn due to extreme sunscreen diligence!
