Ariiving at FW on 9/1. Want to do a day at a water park. Which is better? Typhoon or Blizzaed. Travelling with 3 kids ages 4, 10 and 13?

  :smooth:

I wonder this as well. We have ALWAYS done Typhoon Lagoon but were thinking about being daring this time, and trying another water park!

I would definitely say go to Blizzard Beach. I loved Typhoon but when we went to BB for the first time, I fell in love!

Sorry, TL lovers...I think Blizzard Beach blows it away! Lagoon has the swimming-with-the-fish option, but for us, a water park is all about rides. Our kids are 14, 10 and 6, and BB has something for all of them. The kiddie area is great (on our first visit, our middle child was 3 and loved it)...and for the teens, it has plenty of action.

we loved Blizzard Beach as well, and I honestly wasn't expecting too. My dd was 4 and the kids area at BB is brilliant, much much better than the one at Typhoon Lagoon.

There is also an older kids area where my dd tried a few slides
towards the end of the day when she was feeling brave, and the family raft ride is just superb.
After a superb day at Blizzard Beach we were quite disappointed with Typhoon Lagoon, it was ok, but nowhere near as much fun.

Another vote here for Blizzard Beach! Everytime we ask our DD (age 2.5) what she liked about WDW, she says, "Dumbo, Buzz Lightyear, and Blizzard Beach.":Pinkbounc

When we went to BB in May, the kids had a great time. We've been to Typhoon Lagoon too, but we really like the fun atmosphere of BB.

Have a great trip!

We too have always gone to Typhoon Lagoon...mainly because of the Wave pool! our family doesn't do rides very much do to our size...we are kinda on the sorta heavy side (if you know what I mean) and I don't want to be embarassed going down the slides, not to mention is it safe for larger people to do? So, that's why we go with TL. When you get back from BB - let us all know what you thought ok?

Well ,for early Sept you would probably be ok with BB... HOWEVER... a park-savvy bus driver steered us OUT of BB in August, and dh and kids were ever so glad! It was a very hot week. I was in seat behind bus driver and casually asked him about the 2 water parks. He looked at our kids (7,6,and 2) and said, "GO TO TL!" We asked why -- after all, BB seemed to be so much more... popular... and besides, the kids had seen images of BB on a sing-along tape and just thought it looked "way cool". He called it "BLister Beach", stating that unlike TL, there was very little place to escape the Florida sun there, and the reflection off all that blinding WHITE made for some awesome sunburns. TL usually still has space, but quite often BB is at capacity, turning busses away... that can be a good sign (or a bad one). It mens what's inside is highly sought after, but you're gonna contend with the major crowds to use it!

My sister and her family vote heavily for TL for family fun. For thrills, BB is great, but my sister said it's just a plain rude "shock" when you're cruisin on your tube and have ice water dripping on you (ala "melting icebergs"... in keeping with that whole blizzard wintery theme).

We are compromising and doing both BB and TL next trip (kids prefer the water parks over the 4 main parks -- and in August, who can blame them?) :)

I have gone to both and agree that some of the attractions at BB were much better than TL but we do not like the fact that everything requires you to walk up hill or wait 20 minutes on line for the chair lift.

DH and I are in good shape and we were still tired and sore from our day there. I was a bit younger when I went to TL with my parents but I still think that it is more flat and easier to navigate. I also love the wave pool and snorkling.

After visiting both last year, my daughter (6) has chosen BB. I prefer TL for theming, but I believe there was a better kids' play area at BB - more stuff for her to enjoy. With two little ones, our time at the water park is limited to about 4-5 hours. Best case scenario would be to do both, but that won't fit into our schedule. Maybe it would work for you!

We very much prefer BB and the main reason in the family raft ride. Much better at BB, it's longer and you don't have to carry the raft at all.
