We are going to Typhoon Lagoon soon with our 6 year old daughter. She loves the beach and we are really looking forward to visiting this great water park. Besides the basics (sunscreen, towels, etc.) is there anything else we should bring? Does the park sell any beach toys so the kids can play in the sand or are we better to bring our own? Any other helpful hints?

Last time we were there (but it was quite a while ago) the kids' lunch special came in a sand bucket with a shovel.

Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite of the two. My only suggestion would be to wear water socks or some type of water proof sandal. The ground is very rough and in the summer can be very hot. My family has always loved the wave pool, we spend the most time there. One of their favorite activities is to see who can "surf" the furthest. Have a great trip!

I would also recommend water shoes as the surfaces are rough. The wave hits hard when it comes every ? minutes if you are floating out by the line, so beware of that, definitely put a life vest on your DD that they offer. (I'm sure you are already planning to).

You and your DD will have a wonderful time here. It's our favorite still and my kids are 17 and almost 12, believe it or not, they prefer TL to Blizzard Beach.

If your dd is a little intimidated by the 'big' things to do, there's always Ketchikiddie Creek, a section for little ones. My ds loved it there! He's 9 now and still wants to go back. lol!

I agree with the other posters, you will need water shoes. The paved walkways can get very hot and some spots can be slippery.

Last year we only planned one day at Typhoon Lagoon and we got rained out after 1.5 hours. This year we have a alternate day setup incase we get rained out again.

If you are into getting autographs of the characters, bring your book and camera. We ran into Lilo while at Typhoon Lagoon.

Also, a water-proof camera can be pretty fun on the lazy river or the family tube rides.

Our kids also made sandcastles with the shovel and pail from the kids meal they ordered. They had a blast!
