What the heck is a gator tick? Some kind of tick, or something else?

lol something else I would guess. It was on the rocklike wall in BB's wave pool, near a life guard. Everyone was watching it and it was HUGE and scary looking (spoken like a true Northener) The lifeguard kept looking too and all of a sudden the thing fell (maybe jumped lol) into the water and everyone scrambled and freaked out trying to get away.looked like the scene in Jaws where everyone races out of the water
But back to the bee, I know better but honestly I sometimes get pretty comfortable at Disney with the magical feeling of there's no bugs, no anything bad. So I would be unprepared for a bee sting! Or an attack from a gator tick for that matter....

Do gator ticks bit, fly or sting??? How big are we talking about???? The south is loaded with creepy crawlies. Maybe our Midwest winters aren't so bad...they seem to kill off a lot with our freezing cold winters.

We were just at typhoon lagoon last week. I walk around without my glasses so I don't "see" as well but I have been there many times so I know the layout. Anyway, we were walking along and all of a sudden it felt like I stepped on a piece of glass. I look at the bottom of my foot and guess what is there. A bee. I stepped on a bee which in turn stung me. It took me 48 years to get stung by a bee. So watch where you are walking.

That's 'one' reason to wear water shoes. The other 'main' reasons are it's more sanitary (surely will not ever shower in public showers without them) and it's easier on your feet on hot surfaces.

Last year a guy posted that a wasp went down his shirt while on a coaster at Busch Gardens and he got stung repeatedly until the ride ended. And last year at Typhoon Lagoon we saw a horse fly on a guy's back that was so big we thought it was a prank. It was like 3 inches across.

Life is fraught with peril

But seriously, sorry you got stung. My dd stepped on a bee in our yard last summer and the screams could be heard for miles. It doesn't feel good.

It didn't ruin my day but I had to be careful because my mother is highly allergic to bee stings so I was little worried but after about an hour, all was forgotten. But boy did it hurt.

That would be me, too. I so much as hear a bee and I run around like a chicken with its head cut off. Friends find it funny- I find it the difference between a hospital trip and an evening in the parks.

My second trip to Disney, I was about 9 and we were staying offsite. There was a bug in the middle of our living room and I swatted at it with my hand. The bug turned out to be a wasp... So I got to spend the first day or two at Disney with a semi-swollen hand.
