hi

i have a 15, 16 & 4 yr old- i was wondering if this swimming with the fish and sharks is appropriate for a young child or do they need to be a certain age or height.

thanks

I don't remember there being a height restriction. I have never seen the fish come up to anyone and I have gone numerous times. I believe that there is a piece of plexi-glass or glass that stops them from coming up to the surface. I don't know this for sure but it seems that they all stay below a certain line beneath the water.

If I remember correctly they give you a mask, snorkel and life vest. The hardest part for me when I took my youngest was getting her to breath through the snorkel and helping her across the pool. Its was kind of difficult because you are trying to see the fish but also get them across. Also, the equipment isn't the greatest and I had problems getting her mask to fit correctly to keep the water out. You have a wading area where you can get accumlated and make sure the equipment works before you go across. Just a note the water is cold and that may discourage the younger ones. Hope this helps.

I just took my almost 6 yr old. He had a little trouble with the mask and snorkel. Also the vests they give you are just neoprene, not flotation devices, you can ask for a PFD for the young one, as you are not allowed to kick your feet and many young ones cannot stay afloat otherwise.

There is no plexiglass, the fish are free to come up to the surface, but they just choose not to.

how annoying........I love this part of Typhoon, but I didn't realize that they had lifted the age requirement......I went for the first time when I was 9 and I had my own mask and snorkel and they wouldn't let me on! Argh

They will let your 4-year-old in with a grown-up, I think. They wanted me with my 7-year-old last month. She did fine, but didn't really care for it and zipped right through REALLY fast. She was patient while we did it a few times, though! I think you should go there first thing - that way you are not rushed through and can take your time. The life vests are great for the kids! I wouldn't pass this up - a great opportunity for folks like me who don't get down to the carribean as much as we'd like (try NEVER!). ! Have lots of fun!!!

OH!!! Don't forget the disposable water camera!!!
