Typhoon Lagoon - SURFING!

Does anyone have any information on "Surf Lessons" or "Surfing" at Typhoon lagoon... It shows on the WDW site that you can hang ten and surf during special hours.
My sons are interested in trying surfing if there is an opportunity.
Has anyone tried surfing at Typhoon?
What times of day?

We haven't done it yet because my son was not old enough but I found info on allearsnet.com. One thing I do recall is that it happens early in the morning before the park opens to the public, I believe the restriciton is 8 yr and older, and there might be a swim test at the beginning of the lesson to verify that participants are strong swimmers. My 8 year old son participated in it last June. He is not a strong swimmer and no swim tests were performed before the lessons began. I DID alert them that he was a beginner level swimmer so they had him "catch" the 2nd wave; which is considerably smaller, and keep a watchful eye on him. They have lifeguards posted and there were 3 instructors present with two of them in the water with the students. The normal wave is like 6-7 feet tall. It scared the life out of me when I saw it....thank goodness for the small 2nd wave. We had to be there at 5:45 am to check-in. Lessons lasted until pretty much opening of the park which is around 9 am. We had a full class. They go over instructions on land, then you hit the wave pool for surfing. It was A LOT of fun and I wish I had signed up myself.

Is the surf lessons only available on certain days or every morning.?
What time would it start. I believe park opens @ 10 a.m.
Would surf lessons run from 7 - 10 am?
DO you have to call to pre=register.

My husband rented out TL for himself and four friends about a year and a half ago. I think you go exactly 3 hours before the park opens. It was absolutely AWESOME! They were like kids in a candy store. One friend made a "movie" of the others riding the waves. It was really, really fun for all! I am sorry I don't have many details 0 I will ask DH more about it when he gets home from work.

Is Typhoon Lagoon open in February, does anybody know? We are going over President's week. My DD would LOVE to go surfing!

It is closed for Re-furbishing as of Dec 04' til Spring 05'.

They do lessons on Tuesday mornings as far as I know. At least, it was the only day it was available in June.

Yes closed until March 2005. I thought, wow, that's the longest I've ever seen it closed. Guess they plan to do lots of work....or add something new???
