Typhoon Lagoon Surf Lessons

Call 407-WDW-PLAY for information and reservations.

It is normally a few days a week. You have to be there 3¼ hours before Park opening. They do provide the boards. It is currently $150 per person. It does not provide entry to the Park without a ticket once the Park is open (the group must leave and then you can reenter with a ticket). You get about 1/2 hours of discussion and on-ground training, then 2½ hours in the pool. Disney does not provide transportation, you must drive or taxi (at least to get there).

I've seen the basic information. I guess I am looking for information from someone that has actually done this activity.

My 3 kids did it one year. It is exhausting and hard work. they were wiped. LOl.

You get an on land lesson then they take you in the water and you get about 4 or 5 attempts with a wave.

My kids did it about 2 yrs ago it was amazing! They had a blast! I feel it was well worth the money. They did a land lesson, watched a pro, then got in and surfed. My kids had about 10-12 trys each.........and you have a photo pass guy getting great shots the whole time. Next time Mom is joining in the fun LOL! no joke I really am!

DD16 did it a few years ago and had a blast. It was exhausting, but she felt like a star when she was able to stand on the board and ride it in a few times. I thought the team that did the instruction was tremendous. Two of them were in the water with the newbies and must have been treading water for 60 - 90 minutes.

Anyway, it was a great experience. Getting up early is a pain, but it is really cool to see the park completely empty.

My husband did it a few years back. He had a great time. He was able to go between 10- 15 times. It does take alot of out you.....But sure worth the money....

I'll be by myself at the surf lesson. Are there photopass photographers or can the CMs help with pictures and video??? DW and DS are joining me later.

I am fairly certain that Photopass is not there much prior to Park opening. I know that the Lifeguards would not be allowed to do any picture taking. And I am fairly certain that there are no "spare" cast that could help.

However, you might be able to find some other spectator who would assist you.

My Family and I are heading across to DW in the Middle of September, (only a couple of weeks until we leave :cool1:) I have booked the surfing lessons already. The lovely lady on the phone explained to me that the Disney Transport won’t be able to take us to the Typhoon Park as it is too early in the morning. We are staying at the Swan, how do we get there???? Is there a taxi service running that time in the morning.

Does anybody know how popular this is? We head to the world in a month and DD just found out about this and wants to try it. I will try and call tomorrow , but I was just curious as to people's experience trying to book this late and how many they allow in each class.

Taxis are never much more than five minutes away from anywhere on WDW. From the Swan to TL is about a 15 minute ride. You might want to set up a taxi reservation the night before to pick you up about 20 minutes before you have to be at TL. This can be handled at the Swan's Guest Services desk.

We just came home from WDW today and my husband did this yesterday morning.

No photopass was available. Two different men came alone and I took their pics with their cameras.

This past trip was extrememly short notice. I called one week in advance and there were no openings. I tried each day up until we left and was able to secure a spot. People have up until 24 hours to cancel, so I would suggest keep trying.

My husband loved it. He rode abotu 8 waves. Spectators stood on the sides so I got some great pics and video.

Lastly, the day started at 5:45. It was almost creepy to be in the park when it was that dark and deserted.

He would recommend it!
