Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach for a Toddler

I have been debating if we should go to one of the water parks during our stay in June. My DS will be 2.5 years old when we go and I just don't want it to be a waste of our time. We are staying at Wilderness Lodge, which has a big pool and Childs play area. Is it worth going to a water park? If so, which one is better for a toddler?

I've never been to Wilderness Lodge so I'm not sure about their pool area but if you go to a water park, I'd recommend Blizzard Beach. Their children's area is very well done. Lot of little slides that are perfect for that age. I would also feel more comfortable with my 2 year old in the bobbing pool at Blizzard Beach than the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. I love that wave pool, but it is very rough in some spots and can easily knock people off their feet. Not sure what the height requirement is, but the family raft ride at Blizzard Beach is vastly superior to the one at Typhoon Lagoon. You don't have to haul the raft up the hill and the line moves fairly quick because multiple families can ride together. Having said that, I'm sure your child would have a great time at Typhoon Lagoon too.

I have never been to Typhoon Lagoon, but we took two toddlers to Blizzard Beach last summer and they loved it! The area for small children (tyke's peak, I think) was amazing. We stayed from open to close. They were 1 and 3 at the time and loved all the small slides. The one yr old took a nap on my mom in the lazy river. We had a really great time and can't wait to go back.

We've only taken our kids to Typhoon Lagoon, starting when they were toddlers. The kid area is nice, we also spent time in the lazy river. While I enjoy the water parks I'm not sure I'd do it with toddlers again. The reason being I felt like we had to constantly switch off which parent could do slides and which managed the kids.

The Typhoon Lagoon wave pool is too intense for very small children. They generate big waves every 90 seconds. Blizzard has a relaxing, gentle wave pool.

We took our daughter to TL for the first time when she was 2.5. Highly recommend it. It was absolutely perfect. First of all, there is a whole lot more shade at TL then there is at BB. Catch-a-kiddie Creek is a perfect area for toddlers. there's a small water ride that you can walk beside as your child as he sits on, as I remember on a small rubber raft. Our daughter loved it, did it over and over again. There's also a splash and squirt area where kids can squirt water at each other. We loved the water park as much as the other parks. Very clean. Just as the other parks, highly recommend that you get there early and leave early because of the crowds.
