Typhoon Lagoon kids area vs Blizzard Beach? Age 8

So bummed that the close of BB got moved up, we are missing it by 1 week. Our kids have done BB and love the kids area. Looking online it looks like TL only has a little kid area and not a 'tween' section like BB. Is that right?

Anyone done TL with kids age 8-10, how did you like it? Debating if it's worth it or not, thanks!

We were just at TL a week and a half ago with DD16, DS14, & DS8. DS8 tried everything in the park. He wasn't a big fan of Humonga Cowabunga or Crusher Gusher, but he didn't hate them - just didn't want to do them again when he could be doing the slides he liked better. We had a great day there!

The wave pool in TL is so awesome, it makes up for that tween area. That and Crush n Gusher - the BEST ride in both waterparks. Just pure fun.

My kids are the same age as yours, although it's been a couple of years since we've been to TL. We like BB better and are also sad that we will miss it by a week.

• The "family" ride at BB (Teamboat) is 4 times longer than the one at TL (Ganplank Falls). It's the same ride, my kids like it, but it's very short at TL.
• The little kid play areas at TL (Ketchakidde and the Bay Slides in the wave pool) is for the pre-K crowd - too small and young for your kids. I think Ski Patrol at BB is better.
• Crush n Gusher is fun, but requires at least 48'' in bare feet - my 8-year old is too short by about an inch.
• Wave pool and lazy river are better in TL than at BB.
• My 10-year old loves Summit Plummet at BB - it's been his favorite for many years. The one at TL is not as cool.

Having said that, we are going to TL. I think it will be fun for a few hours and even if I don't like it as much as BB, it's still a really nice water park. My DH loves waterparks and he's really excited about going. We have a free WP&M bonus entry that came with our tickets, so it's no cost. We'll go for 2 - 2.5 hours and than hit MK in the afternoon.

BB has a great splash area. Plus you can float on tubes in their wave pool.

My newphew and niece (12/9) love both water parks. BB is their favorite because there are more slides but they do enjoy TL too. TL's wave pool cannot be beat. Crush and Gusher is a blast too. It is worth it to go with kids age 8 & 10. We go for 14 days and spend about 5 of them at the waterparks alternating between TL and BB.
