So every year I say I'm gonna go to Typhoon Lagoon, and every year I skip it for more park time. Well I'm only doing one day at Disney just for a half day at the water park (open till about 2) but I haven't been to a water park in over 10 years. I did a search on here but didn't find much info that was helpful. I will be going Saturday, April 30.

My main objectives are the shark reef, cause I love fishe and marine biology, and may even pay the extra for the supplied air thing, crush n gusher, some time in the wave pool, and maybe humonga cowabunga or one or two of the other slides.

Is that enough time for all that? Do I need to know anything else? What kind of water shoes should I buy, if any? Is there any real differences in the three water coaster slides? Should I just skip it again and do a full day at Epcot? Any and all suggestions or opinions are welcome. Thanks in advance!!

I would be there at least 30 minutes before opening;at opening go STRAIGHT to Crush 'n Gusher and then STRAIGHT to Shark Reef and then to the Slides finishing with the Wave Pool.:)

It's a great park. We love it just as much as the other parks. It does get crowded though. We normally get there right before opening and stay until 12:30-1:00 because it gets crowded in the afternoons. If you hustle and not fool around, you can do the entire park in a couple of hours if you really want to.

I agree that you certainly don't need more time than opening until 2. I'm not sure what it'll be like in late April but all winter at least Shark Reef didn't open until noon. I know in the summer it's open right away but not where April will fit in. I would recommend the same as WEDWDW above - go to Crush N Gusher and run through all 3 coasters (won't take more than 15 minutes total - if it gets backed up then stop at 2) then right to Shark Reef. I'd recommend going through it once "free" and seeing what you think. If you want to do slides, I'd do them then - the Family Raft Ride first, then the tube slides. I never do the speed slides so if you really want to do that it probably needs to come after Shark Reef. Then I'd go back later and do the "pay extra" Shark Reef since not as many people do that. Only after all this would I do things like lazy river or wave pool. One note though on the wave pool, it alternates times between the "big waves" and the regular, continuous wave pool waves. If you strongly want to hit one or the other (I'm not a fan of just normal wave pool, especially without a tube, since I can do that anywhere and consider the big waves more unique), check the big chalkboard schedule near the entrance (after you come in and go down the long walkway and see the wave pool, before breaking off to the changing rooms) and it will give you the hours for each type of wave.

We were there last May and the Shark Reef did not open until noon then also. The line grew pretty quickly when it did open.

Don't skip Typhoon Lagoon! You will enjoy it. The wave pool alone is worth going for (the waves are ridiculously big, you have to see it for yourself). Shark reef is also very cool. The slides are fun, but not that much different from any other water park (other water parks have crush and gusher type slides).

Overall, I think you will really enjoy spending 1/2 day there.

Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite! (never been to Blizzard Beach so I can't compare) The wave pool never disappoints, and I love lounging on the Lazy River.

Funny story about the wave pool though. When I went in 2008 with my sister and my Mom, I had a tankini swimsuit on, and the top part tied around my neck. I guess I didn't have it tied tight enough, ran into the monstrous waves at the wave pool...and...well, I'll let you figure out what happened next.

Thanks for all the suggestions!!

Any suggestions for water shoes? Or do I really even need them?

I haven't been to typhoon lagoon in 8 years, i can't remember what the texture of the bottom of the wave pool is like. maybe someone else knows. for some reason I remember it being rather rough. that might be somewhere else I'm thinking of though. but for that reason alone, i would bring water shoes.

Yes, with this plan, you should have no problem getting in everything you're wanting to do.

In my opinion you don't need them - just a cheap pair of flip flops work much better. - I don't wear them in the wave pool and have never had a problem. The first year we went I tried making all of us (adults and kids alike) wear water shoes, but it just wasn't worth it. Now only those under 3 wear them, everyone else wears flip flops and nothing in the wave pool.

I lost my bikini bottoms in the wave pool, as an already very shy teenager. I have exclusively worn one-pieces to water parks ever since.

I went to Typhoon Lagoon in Sept, and I think as a solo rider there was only one (maybe 2?) of the slides open to solo riders, at least one was for double tubes only.

I'll have a friend with me :)

The extra for the supplied air snorkeling is well worth it. We did it last may it was awsome. We did have to wait as the cm that go in the pool with you were off at lunch break. Remember that water will be cold well cold compared to everything else as it isn't heated we had no issues as we are used to cold water swimming
