Typhoon Lagoon Details Questions

I am an obsessive over-planner who likes to know everything before I step foot on the plane (I know, that's what the DIS is for, but sometimes I still feel silly). I have been to WDW many times, and have been to Blizzard Beach once, but this will be the first trip to Typhoon Lagoon. I have a few questions that I have not been able to find the answers to, and believe me I have looked (not in any of the 3 guidebooks I regularly check, not on any of my 3 favorite websites, I may have a low post count, but I read this board every day and have never seen the answers).

1) Are there any slides/activities at TL that can NOT be done solo? I ask this because many slides seem to have only 2-person tubes (such as Crush-n-Gusher) in any picture or description. Can a single rider experience all of the slides at TL? When I went to Blizzard Beach, there were several slides that were only allowing double tubes, and as a solo traveler, I had no way to experience them. With the greater number of double-tube slides in general, will this be a problem at TL?

2) Which slides tend to have the longest lines? I know that a full-on touring plan isn't really necessary, but are there certain activities (like the shark reef) that get very busy and should be done first? On the other end, are there slides that move very quickly and can be saved for when the park is more crowded?

Thank you!

We love TL! It is more fun to us than BB, and I think mostly because the lines to the slides go so much faster. At BB, the wait times are usually around 30 -60 minutes but at TL, it's usually not like that. Also, even though there are two-person tubes, I think you can ride them with just one person on them. We always have an odd number and I don't remember ever having to get someone else to ride with us. I would probably remember since I'm usually the one that's the odd one out (putting DS and DD on the same tube).

There are no specific bad times for the slides, just that all slides are a little more crowded in the afternoons because of more people there in the afternoons. None of the TL slides have waits as bad as the BB ones any time of the day! When I go to BB, I always ask myself why when I could be at TL and not waiting in those lines! :confused3

I would definitely ride Crush-n-Gusher first, and yes, it has 1, 2 or 3 person tubes :)

That's really the only one I ride, but hopefully someone will chime in for the rest!

I love typhoon lagoon! i remember going there and hardly waiting in line, tis great and the wavepool is the best!!:goodvibes

I'd wear water shoes in the wavepool, though. My ds got a terrible scrape in there. We plan to walk the edge with him this June--he does not want to go back in.

I would think that you would need more than 1 person for the big family tube ride but I'm not certain. I know it's a gigantic float.

We love TL. Enjoy!!

As someone else said, I don't think it's a problem if you are alone to ride in a double tube by yourself, kind of like how every seat on a roller coaster doesn't have to be filled to ride it. We didn't like the slides at TL as much as at BB, but the wave pool is awesome!

Actually, they'll just pair you up with another family when you get to the top. Two of my sisters and my husband went to BB and went on that ride - I remember there were either signs and/or CMs saying that 4 - 8(?) people would be going down in each raft and that smaller parties would be paired up. We were excited because there were 4 of us, so we thought that meant we qualified for our own raft. Nope, they threw in a pair of teenage girls with us at the last minute. :rotfl: So a single rider can definitely ride it, just with another family or two.

It seems that there is conflicting information. Are there single tubes for Crush-n-Gusher then or just one person riding in a double tube? If both of these options are available, which one should I pick? Or are the single tubes for other slides only?

Thanks for all the great responses!

For Crush-n-Gusher if you are a single rider, then you will need to carry up a single float to ride. They won't let you go down on a double or triple float with just yourself. All 3 lines allow single riders, but 1 of the lines does not allow the triple rider. Just read the signs above as you start up the steps.

At least as of last October, there weren't single rafts. If you were a single rider, you took a double raft and sat in the back seat with your legs over into the front seat.
