I just saw on the local news that Typhoon Lagoon is closed this weekend due to the cold temperature.

Weirdly, I was reading a Facebook Disney group where someone was talking about how hot it was today.

I’m on the Gulf coast, about 90 minutes away from WDW, and I know the weather varies but that was so odd to me. It’s cool here on the coast, with a north wind, but it’s definitely not freezing cold nor is it 85 degrees!

How often do the water parks close for cool weather?

Yes, and I thought it was cold today! That’s why I wondered if the water parks typically close on weekends when it’s “cold” by Florida standards, but not by northerners standards. (It was probably in the high 60s/low 70s here, guessing, with a cold north wind, but someone posted it was 82 and hot at WDW so I was surprised).

The park closed earlier this week and the high went up to 70s. So I believe the limit might be 70 and under.

A handful or two of times in the winter and late fall

the pools will stay open longer then the water parks. But with a poll you can stay in the water Ana though it out only when getting out. With a water park you have to run around. No fun being wet and out of the water at those temps

We live about an hour away from disney, on the east coast, and it was cool, overcast and breezy here yesterday. Maybe that person on facebook doesn't like warm temps...or is just bragging about being at disney. ;-)
Accuweather says disney had a high of 74 yesterday. That is not "hot" to me.

I agree that the waterparks close about a handful of times during the "cold" months. From what I remember, it's seems to be the days where it can barely make it to 60 degrees. Or when they nights are expected to go into the 40s.

It has also been damp. I.E. raining. mid 50 temperatures and rain does not make a pleasurable water park experience.

It was cold today at MK. I couldnt imagine having spent the day at a water park

I was freezing yesterday at home- because of the north wind and damp feel to the air. I definitely didn’t venture out for long- but I wonder how the crowds were yesterday then? Maybe that’s a day I should head over to WDW! Of course, the people who have traveled there would still be in the parks, but most of us local-ish folks may stay home.

Crowds at MK were pretty bad

I have definitely been to TL when it was low 70’s. The water is all heated, it’s just the walking around wet part.

we went to blizzard beach back in 2009 during the week of thanksgiving and the high was 72 degrees and it was cold in the water park once we became wet and there is a breeze blowing. it was fun because we had the park to ourselves but it was cold. so if weather is predicted to be below 70 i can definitely understand why the would close. it would just we too cold to tolerate a water park below 70 and they probably wouldn't have any customers.
