Hi, Disney Family -

My family and I will be visiting the Disney water parks for the first time ever in May. I want to know if anyone has done both water parks in one day (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach). What recommendations do you have? Is it possible to tackle both parks in the same day? Thank you for all the help in advance :)

I have done both on the same day. Both are enjoyable and each has a unique and different feel. Even if you buy a stand alone one day WP ticket, you can visit both parks on the same day. Verify that both parks are open on your date and verify operating hours. Be at the first one about 20 to 30 minutes before official opening time.

Nope, never tried it. I'm sure it is possible, but after 4-5 hours of climbing steps and sliding down I am tired.

We're HUGE fans of the water parks, but haven't done both in the same day. To echo the point above, after 4-5 hours at one water park, we're about done. I'm sure we could do both in one day, but as much as we love them I don't think I'd want to.

Thank you! We definitely plan on getting to the park before it opens! How would you compare the crowds at the water park at open vs. the crowds at MK/AK/HS/EP?

There is no comparison. The WPs are a piece of cake. They tend to do the same thing as the land parks. They will let you in early and hold you at internal ropes. You will have access to bathroom/shower/changing areas while waiting.

I must also admit that if we open the place up we are also done within 4 hours. We are not the kind of people to lay out in the sun and relax or nap for an hour or two.................but.............doing 2 parks in the same day can be rewarding if you remember these 2 things: a) lines/waits at the afternoon park will be longer than your morning park ....... b) you are prepared for the hotter sun and the higher risk of sunburn.

I'm not the person you asked, but I would say it depends on the ages of the members of your family. We would head back to hotel to rest a bit, then head out for a nice leisurely dinner, possibly at Disney Springs or the Boardwalk area. Next trip I have a dinner reservation at Il Mulino at the Swan, and we plan to head to Jellyrolls after, but we are just 2 (old) adults. (I am hoping to hit Blizzard Beach earlier that day, but the Feb weather may be too cold.)

We did both water parks in one day last spring and it was a lot of fun. We started out at Typhoon Lagoon and got there before they opened spent around 4 hours then headed to Blizzard Beach and stayed 4 hours until they closed. After that we played mini golf at Winter Summerland. You won’t be able to do everything with a half day at each park but just pick your must do attractions. We could have easily spent a whole day at each water park.

There is no comparison at all. I know people show up at the 4 theme parks 45-60+ minutes early and wait for park open. There is absolutely zero reason to do that at the water parks. They usually open at 10:00am. If you show up at 9:55am that is more than enough time. In both parks, you can tap in before 10am, but there are a few places they will stop you at the ropes. Each spot may have 50-75 people waiting at it, even in the middle of summer. Usually it's less. We've had many times where we show up at 9:55am, hustle to chairs and put our stuff down at 10am, then head right for the "big" slide and are literally the first ones to ride it. In the first 45-60 minutes you can ride anything you want with zero wait. You'll only be limited by how fast you can climb back up the stairs. There are stairs...lots of stairs. BB has a "ski lift" to get you to the top of the mountain where some of the big slides are. If you're in a hurry, don't use it. It stops very often and the line builds fast. It's faster to use the stairs (assuming you can climb at a decent pace).

Usually we're ready to relax after. We go back to our rental house and get cleaned up/showered. Sometimes we're done for the day and hang out, sometimes we'll head back to a park at night. However, if we do head back to a park, it's a low key evening.

I generally prefer Blizzard Beach (like the theme and general look), but my favorite TL ride is the Crush N Gusher. I don't like the huge body slides or face first mat rides, I stick to the slides you can sit or have inner tubes. One of the parks has a good family raft ride, but I'm often solo.

Which is better for 3.5, 7 and 8 year old plus mom and dad? Dad and the 7 and 8 year old like thrills. Me and the 3 year old we can stick to kiddy area. I want to do the one I saw on a travel channel video, where it's in a tube and goes up the tube? I cannot remember the name. I refuse to go on big ones on my body, I need the tube. We have time for both, but if we can only choose 1, which is better?

Thank you everyone (@BridgetBordeaux, @georgina, @Klayfish, @WaltDavisWorld) for your input!! I am LOVING the DisBoards - everyone is so knowledgeable!

What rides/attractions at TL and BB are your favorites?

This depends on what you like. I like the "thrill" rides, so I like Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher, Humunga Kowabunga, Crush n Gusher, Downhill Double Dipper, etc.... I absolutely LOVE the wave pool at TL, it's amazing. Teamboat Springs (the family tube ride at BB) is fun for all. After doing all that, the wave pool is a nice relaxing change of pace.

Hard to tell what you're referring to about "in a tube and goes up the tube", but maybe you're thinking of Crush n Gusher at TL. It's a ton of fun. There are only a handful of body slides, there are more that are tubes or mats. As for which is better, there really is no right answer. They're both great. They both have kid areas. Pros and cons to both. Blizzard Beach has a more organized kid area in Ski Patrol (which has cool zip lines and iceberg crossings). It also has some super cool thrill slides in Slush Gusher and Summit Plummet. TL has the better wave pool, IMO, it's incredible. TL also has two family tube slides, where BB has one. I like TL lazy river slightly better, but they're both fun.
