if going to DL beginning of July? Will also be traveling up to SF/Monterey for a few days. Any help would be appreciated before I start "trip shopping":)

Disneyland and San Francisco have very different weather. I'd pack layers--you might need them all in SF, and the evenings at Disneyland can be very cool. July is normally hot during the day, but when the sun goes down the temp drops. San Francisco is never all that warm (to me anyway). You definately need a jacket, preferably water resistant if you plan on going out into the bay (ie tour boat, Alcatrez, etc). Otherwise, pants for evening and SF, shorts for days. And don't forget sunblock, sunglasses and chapstick with sunblock. Comfortable shoes for walking for both.

DLR in July is the only time I wear shorts in DL. It will be hot. SF however will be chilly, so definitely bring pants and sweatshirts for the SF/Monterey part of your trip.

Don't forget to bring swimsuits, as you'll probably want to take a break from the Park in the middle of the day (July in SoCal will most likely be HOT!). Also, seconding what other posters have said...you'll want sweatshirts & long pants for your trip to NorCal...totally different kind of weather there.

thank you all soooo much!! Here I was thinking July is July, and it would be just like DW - shorts and bathing suits - period. Better think about the bigger suitcase;)

DH was born and raised in SF and we have been there in July. It is kind of funny to pack up our long pants and sweatshirts/jackets and head to Cali from Utah where we are wearing shorts and sandals. We love SF in July because UT is HOT in the summer and we love to take a heat break there.

If you are going to be on a bay tour of any kind in SF - bring a HEAVY coat. Like a winter coat. DH and DS went on a night time Alcatraz tour and DS only took a hoodie and light weight wind jacket to wear on the boat and he was cold. DH had his winter coat on and was fine. They did feel really bad for the people on the tour who were wearing shorts and t-shirts and were freezing!

The beach in SF is NOT warm. The water is cold and the wind blows. My kids love it, but they wear coats. Pull out that bigger suitcase.

I don't get out to SF all that much in the summer, but when I do I'm always in pants and a tank top with a sweater. If the suns out and it's not too windy, you can get pretty warm which is why I'm always in a tank top underneath that sweater. But like I said, I don't get out to SF a lot, despite being in the Bay Area.

But SoCal will be HOT!

And if you're going by DLR in July, you should check out the July trip thread ;)
