type of bag to carry while pregnant?

We leave in less than 3 weeks!! I am so excited!!

What kind of bag would be best for a 6.5 month pregnant woman? I thought a backpack (or anything on my back) might make my back hot (since we're going in May) and might be a pain to take on and off to access. I don't think a fanny pack will really stay up because of my belly. I was thinking a messenger-type bag I can wear on my side after reading a recent post.
anyone have any experience with carrying a bag in disney while pregnant?

We don't have kids, so it's just stuff for me (and maybe a poncho for DH, who otherwise doesn't need anything). Does anyone know any good stores or brands...something not too big but big enough to carry:

-sunblock
-small camera
-tissues
-lipblock
-cell phone
-bottle or two of water
-granola bars
-maybe 2 ponchos if it looks like rain

Thank you!!!

i think it should be whatever bag your DH feels comfortable carrying, because he should be the one carrying it. My DH won't even let me carry the bag now when we go to Disney even though it is mostly filled with my stuff, I ask him to take turns, but he never will. If I was pregnant, he would definitely be the one carrying all of the stuff.

I really don't want him to have to carry the bag. He is such a sweet DH, but he'd be content without taking anything into the park. I'd rather find a bag that I don't mind carrying since almost all of the stuff is for me. It really won't be that heavy. Besides, I'd be bugging him every 15 minutes to get something out. Thanks!

I went at 6 1/2 months pregnant and, well, DH carried the backpack. He always does. It's soooo nice not having to carry a purse or anything. :cool1: But that backpack contained all of our stuff for everybody (us and our two older kids). This trip we will both probably have backpacks as I think we will need a small one for DD1's stuff.

Anyway, I think you would get tired of a messenger bag unless you can loop it across you somehow. A lightweight backpack might be good; you shouldn't be carrying too much anyway. Target has a mesh backpack in the women's accessories section that would probably be light, and not hot on your back. They even have it in lime green! It's their Mossimo brand.

Congratulations! And remember to take frequent breaks and drink lots of water.

As a DH myself, I agree: anything he wants to carry would be fine. You are carrying enough already.

I think DH should carry too...but if that's not an option...I'm leaving tomorrow with my 4 year old and I'm taking a back-pack. I hope it off-sets my belly weight LOL! Otherwise, I'll throw it in the stroller and just use my "wallet on a string" for my money and tickets and carry my camera in the small bad I have, which I'll drape over me like a messenger bag (and like my "wallet on a string").

Have fun!

I'm another one for letting your DH carry the bag, even if it is mostly your stuff. I don't want this to sound rude because I don't mean it that way, but you have to carry the baby for 9 months, the least he could do is carry a backpack at WDW.

Another vote for Dh to carry the bag.

We live close to the parks and go frequently. I went all through the pregnancy. At 6 months, I felt the best...most energy. However, lugging a bag all day might be much. When I needed to bring a bag, I just carried a belt bag in my hand. It was small, but big enough to fit my junk in it.

I've been to Disney twice while pg. My 2nd one I was 5.5 months pg. Trust me when I say your dh will be the one carrying anything you need. It will be all you can just to get in and out of the rides, walk around etc. I was so worn out and sore my dh and MIL wanted to rent me a motorized cart but I refused! Don't get me wrong I'd do it again in a heartbeat but it does make for a tiring vacation!

DH is upset that I made this post without talking to him...we are laughing at the situation now. Although he usually hates to carry backpacks, he wholeheartedly agress to carry our bag on this next trip. I just felt bad asking him since it's all my stuff. Well, I guess problem solved...we'll go with whatever bag he is ok with. Thanks for all of your replies :)
