We are driving from San Antonio, TX for the first time in July and was wondering where do y'all (get it) stay overnight? :cool1:

I can't imagine driving straight through with the kiddos.

Holy Guacamole! I thought you would have a shorter trip than we would from Kansas City, so I googled out of curiosity, but it isnt much closer for you.

Looking at the map I would say New Orleans would be about 1/2 way but I hear that Mobile, Al is nice.. my friend's parents moved there and love it.

Good luck!

We usually stay around Mobile, AL. One year we made it a couple of hours into Florida-that was really nice because we arrived at Disney by lunch the next day!

We are from Houston. Our first trip with the kids in 2005 we stayed in Mobile, AL. It was about an 8 hr. drive to that point (of course with several stops with 3 kids ages 3, 5, 7) with the remaining 8 or so hrs. the next day. Just don't make the same mistake we made (as amateurs) and go without reservations somewhere. It probably wouldn't have been so hard for us to find a place to sleep except that it was Memorial Day weekend! Have a great trip!

Our trip if we drive is just a bit longer than yours coming from South Texas. It takes us 4 hours to get to San Antonio. We usually stop in New Orleans when we drive. If we have enough time, we even stay a day or two. San Antonio to New Orleans seems to be 9 1/2 hrs. From New Orleans it should be another 10 hours until you get to Orlando.

Have a safe trip:)

Do you have an idea when you want to leave in the morning? How old are the kiddos? Depending on the age, you might be best off trying for Baton Rouge or Slidell,LA. You can get there early enough to get in a swim at the hotel pool before getting an early start the next morning. There is nothing worse than getting to Disney on fumes.

Hi fellow Texan. We drove last year from San Antonio nonstop with kids. It is doable but a long trip. We left at 1 in the afternoon got to Orlando area around 10am the next morn. Our kids were 6 and 4. They slept most of the way through the night and hubby and I switched driving when one got tired. However when we drove back we stoped halfway. For us the halfway point was Mobile, Alabama. We picked a La Qunita etc and staid there.

We were going to drive this year to but found to good of airfare to pass up. If we drove we stoped this year on the way it would be in Biloxi, MS or Mobile, AL. We are going June 10-17. Hpe that helps have a great trip.

I would vote for Daphne, AL, just across the bay from Mobile. It's one of our regular stops. Less crowded, easy access, very clean. Great restaurants in the area as well. If you want details, let me know...

We've driven a couple of times from Houston with 2 young kids (under 6) and on the way there we usually stay around Pensacola, FL. We really push it the first day so we'll have a short second day. On the way home, we stay in eastern LA, I can't remember where. Both times I've written down where we stayed and both times I lost my notes!
