Two wheelchair questions

We have another trip coming up, and I have two rides that I have questions on-this is Disney World.

First-the little mermaid show at Hollywood Studios. The few times we've done this, we've been told to stay to the left of the red line. Unfortunately the other guests are not told to stay to the right, so we're not anywhere near the doors waiting. By the time we get through the doors and my husband gets me situated along the back wall, he has a hard time finding 3 seats together so the kids aren't sitting by themselves. Is there a better way to do this? We tried using a fastpass but still had the same issue.

The second is jungle cruise. I AM able to transfer safely with the help of my husband, and if there's a short or no wait I can park my chair and stand in line. The last time we rode this, though, they required us to wait for the handicap accessible boat. There was no wait for the other line, but we ended up waiting quite a long time as the particular boat we were waiting for was pulling away as we arrived. We asked the cast member why, and he said I needed to have the boat with a rope to tie off the back of the boat to keep it up against the dock. Is this a new procedure? Or is it at the discretion of the cast member on whether they think I can transfer safelY?

Thanks for any help or insight :)

Just brainstorming...

How old are the kids? Could they stake out 3 seats while your husband situates you? If you are okay to stand for the Jungle Cruise would you be okay to park the wheelchair and then walk over to where he and the kids are seated at LM? Is the wait at the doors too long or too crowded for you to leave the chair outside? Could you situate yourself while he handles the kids? Could you sit until the doors open and then use the wheelchair as a walker to get you to your spot? I know not all of these are going to work for everyone, but one might work for you.

N.B. I am not a doctor, I don't know what your physical circumstances are, I don't know what it's safe for you to do, and I haven't ridden the Jungle Cruise since the latest refurb.

When one of my party is using a wheelchair but doesn't actually need/want the special wheelchair procedures that are in place for a certain attraction, we try to leave the wheelchair in stroller parking so that the CM doesn;t try to strongarm us into them.

the wait at little mermaid is too long and crowded for me :/ i can't push it myself but i could use it as a walker once through the crowds so hubby and kids could go straight to finding seats. that might work, thanks! :)

ttintagel-that's what we usually do-we visit jungle cruise when it's not busy, park my chair, and go in the regular line. This last time a castmember stopped us and said I was required to wait on the wheelchair side.
