Two weeks at the fort, uncomfortable beds thoughts on improving

Hi Folks,

Got a Hybrid TT with the fold out beds end made from 4-6" foam. This is not a Stearns & Foster bed, but does alright for a few nights. After 3-4 nights you start to feel the hardness of the foldouts. Has anybody upgraded their beds? I do sleep on a thermo-rest when in the camper but that is partial fix.

Looking for a full nights sleep.

We were having the same problem with the beds in our 19' Jayco Kiwi. The beds were fine for a weekend trip, but when we went for a week to Lancaster, we could not take the uncomfortableness after the 3rd night. We purchased a memory foam bed topper (about $100 at Walmart) and immediately noticed the improvement. I am not sure if you can upgrade the mattresses, but this worked for us.

We have two down alternative toppers and an "egg crate" foam pad sandwiched between them on our mattress. You can get those if you watch sales at JcPenney or Kohl's for around $50.

We purchased a natural latex foam topper. We have used it for a couple of weeks at a time with no issues.

Get the memory foam mattress topper and then put a mattress pad on top. With it being back to school season, both items are on sale quite often. The topper is under 50 if you watch the sales and the mattress pad isn't expensive either.

We had the same problem. We put an egg crate on and that helped a lot. Our trailer is parked in a seasonal site now so we took the mattress out altogether and put in an air mattress.

We did longer stays at the Fort in our hybrid too, and my back/shoulder don't fair well on a lot of beds. Since we didn't need a mattress on one end - as that was the dog's wing ;) - we doubled up the mattresses and then tossed an egg crate and a memory foam on top.

3 weeks of sleeping on a cloud! :cloud9:

And as an added bonus, regular fitted sheets actually fit a lot better when it all added up to something more like the thickness of a normal mattress.

We use a 1 1/2" memory foam topper in our popup with only a 3" foam mattress and a mattress pad over it. It sleeps better than our house bed. I don't know why we haven't upgraded our home yet. We have stayed 9 days at a time with no sleep issues and we aren't as young as we used to be.

Got a 2 inch Memory Foam from Overstock.com. Now I look forward to sleeping in the Motorhome. Big difference.

+1 for the Memory Foam 2-inch mattress topper from Overstock. I have a pop-up which basically has the same type of bed/mattress as your hybrid and the foam topper made a world of difference for me.

Make the move whatever the cost. You won't regret it. :3dglasses

We tried the egg crate topper and found that it didn't make much of a difference. Before our Thanksgiving trip last year, we ordered a memory foam topper off of ebay. What a difference it has made ! I'm thinking of getting a couple of more to put on the table bed and the sofa bed. I just have to figure out a place to store them when the beds are not in use.

Thanks all, this sure will make me sleep better:lmao: And the wife will be a happy camper with a good nights rest!!

Anyone ever done the Sleep Number in their rig? Hubby's got serious back problems (as opposed to hilarious ones, I guess) and while I can sleep on anything, he's more particular.
