Two Week Beach Vacation-How much $ would you bring?

We are headed to Cape Cod for two weeks this summer in a rented beach cottage. Our plan is to hang at the beach, ice cream, flea markets, out to dinner a few times, browse the shops, take in a Cape Cod summer baseball game, free concerts, etc.

So how much would you bring for spending money for your family...not including grocery supplies which we will bring from home for the most part?

I was thinking $1500...$750 a week? Too much...too little?

We are a family of five with kids 16, 15 and 12.

If you plan on eating in the cottage a good bit, that amount should be fine. However, if you get there and decide to do a whale watch or eat out more, you may need more. It can be a pricey area.

If you are anywhere the Cape Cod National Seashore,they have some great free activities, beach walks etc.

You could make a beach vacation as expensive or as cheap as you want. We have rented condos at the Jersey Shore and never spent more than our usual grocery budget and maybe $100 for entertaining 4 kids for the week. We have also spent over $1000 in a week because the kids did boardwalk rides, go-karts, mini golf, eating out, and purchased boogie boards. You could certainly make do with $1500 for 2 weeks. It just depends on what you want to be able to do.
