Has anybody used these onboard? If so how well do they work? My DH and I would feel much better :worried: about letting our DS & DD roam around unsupervised :guilty: if we knew we could reach them (and they could reach us at any time. :cat: :flower:

WE used them and had no problems. Make sure you take extra batteries as you will need them when you leave them on most of the day.

Target is having a sale on the radios. A set of 4 for $60. Doesn't this sound too cheap?

Is there something we should look for, that makes some brands better than others?

TIA

Yes, make sure they have a feature called something like 'sub channels' or 'privacy codes'. It'll be listed something like: '14 channels, 36 subchannel codes'. If it only says 14 channels, you will never be able to sort out the chaos, as you will hear everybody else using that channel. The sub channel codes block out the others.

Thanks Mark...I knew there was something, I was talking to someone in MGM that was using them and he had mentioned what to look for but I had forgotten.

Thanks Again
Joanna

We brought them but never used them. My DH didn't want to lug one around with him and the kids were either in the clubs or with us. If DH and I separated it was usually just "meet me in the cabin at 4:00" or something like that. :) I didn't see anyone on our cruise using them, come to think of it! I guess they'd be good if you have older kids and teenagers, though.

We used them a couple of times when DH was in the cabin napping with DD3 and I was out and about with DD4. When we left the room, I put the radio on his chest and he called me when they woke up. We met at Bingo!

to other passengers when they are used excessivley ie. in the movies theater or the Disney Theater during the shows. Also caution children that this is not a toy. During our cruise in January, my DN and I were watching or rather trying to watch Brother Bear in the theater and these two darling children thought it would be great fun to carry on an in depth conversation over the two way radios. Hard to hear the movie.

We used them all the time on our last cruise and will be taking them again for the next one. I was really surprised when I could talk to DH on Castaway Cay while I was in our cabin on deck 2. I plan on getting DS(8) one of those two-way radio watches so he doesn't have to worry about losing it.

Where do you find these and do they have a separate walkie talkie or another watch? Thanks!:sunny:

Riodog, I can't STAND when people do that!   Or when they use their cellphones as 2 way radios in public places like waiting roooms or restuarants. :chat: I don't want to hear:listen: their conversations !!! Why don't they just call each other on the phone?! :scratchin
