two way radios

We are taking our twin grand-daughters to Disney 31st Oct,
I would like some advice on the use of two way radios, which ones to buy and ease of use for 9 year olds.

safest bet is to buy some from walmart when you arrive in florida

uk two way radios work on a different frequency than usa radios and they'll cause interence if used in florida - they are also illegal to use

We bought some in Walmart in April - Motorola Talkabout T5300 with up to 2 mile range and 14 channels for $34.97 for a pack of two.

Our DS (11) and DD (9) found them really easy to use, and they come with an attachment which you can fix to your belt etc., if wearing one. Otherwise they put them in a pocket or bag.

I have bought 2 motorola 2 way radios especially for our florida trip - "THEY ARE ILLEGAL TO USE"

I hope not cos they cost me £100 and too late to return now - who said they were illegal and why?

I think this is the case, it is to do with the frequency on which emergency services broadcast. I am sure someone will come along soon with more details?

I have just phoned my supplier who i purchased them from and he assures me that they will be fine to use in USA.

Thanks anyway but i'm taking them anyway.
