Have two trips planned within two + months of each other. Currently have AP's. See a link to customize our bands and have them shipped out to us. Started working on that today.

Will we need to order a second set of bands for trip 2, link the AP's again etc, or will the first set of bands from trip 1 still be valid for use for trip 2?

Guess the question is do we need two different sets of bands for each trip?

Thx

We are AP holders and customized our MBs for our Dec trip back in Nov and when we returned last week I looked at MDE and we had 4 days left to customize our bands for a trip for marathon weekend in Jan. Did that and got them back today. So, at this point, I guess we get bands for every trip.

Currently Disney is sending a new set of Magic Bands for each on-site stay. You will not have to relink your AP's, unless of course they expire between trips, because there is nothing on the Magic Bands except information which links to your MDE.

Also, all bands will continue to work from trip to trip. Since they all access the same information you can use them interchangeably. I order a different color each time. On our November trip I had four bands and each day I chose the band that went best with what I was wearing. All four worked perfectly during the trip.

I don't have an AP so I won't be trying this myself, but could you set up FP+ ressies on all your bands and use them all in the same day. So you'd have 12 instead of 3?

No. Nothing is stored on the bands. The bands simply access whatever is linked to your MDEx profile. You can make 3 FP+ selections per day which are linked to your profile. Therefore, all of your bands can access those same three FP+s.

Gotcha...thanks! Was curious how that worked.

That's what I thought I read or heard as well. Thanks for confirming that. You definitely make a point about the possibilities of treating the MB's as accessories. I can see how that could become a trend pretty quickly.

Was explaining our new bands to my DW and she asked me this.....

Does anyone know how they differentiate which band goes to which person when you enter the park? Are they still doing the finger scan? We have 5 AP's for each of us linked to our band that I will be ordering shortly. If one of my kids loses a band can someone pick it up and enter the park? I know there is an option to cancel it but I wonder what steps are in place for Disney to verify the right person is using the right band? Pretty sure I also saw where they can view who scaned the band and greet that person by name but how do they ensure that is the right person using that band? Sure finger scans would be it if still in place so it could be a simple answer.

But they do not do finger scans for children so I suppose theoretically, someone could pick up a child's band and use it for entry, correct?

Only if they were a child. The CM would see on their device it was a child ticket and that it was an adult using it. If it was an AP the name would pop up and when the adult was unable to produce an ID that would pretty much end the scheme right there.
